MJo Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Hi! I've read a lot of threads but, no joy. There are probably many ways to achieve things but I'm happy if we can find just one. Essentials now: DVB Task Scheduler is started from "Startup" folder by Windows. Use case 1: PC is OFF. Push Power ON. Wait. DVBViewer is open and tv is shown. -> Do I need to place DVBViewer also to "Startup" folder OR avoid it and let DVB Task Scheduler to start DVBViewer? -> If Task Scheduler is the way to go, how? I see only "Restart on Resume" option meaning what happens after standby? Use case 2: MJo is watching TV. It's midnight.. time to go for sleep. There are many recordings ongoing. Let's standby PC after recordings are done. -> It's possible to have standby after EVERY recording operations in DVBViewer (Settings->Options->Recorder->Recordings->Action After Recording) but if we set "Force standby after recording" then we'll have now and then question asking to avoid shutdown (...->General->Shutdown->Timeout for shutdown warning) which I found irritating since having many recordings coming e.g. from EPGPlus. Is this more or less feature request to obey standby command after recordings are done? Use case 3(bonus question about sw platform, the big picture of logic ): PC is showing TV by DVBViewer. Have standby-operation by Windows (many ways, sleep-button, power off-button with different configuration etc. doesn't matter). PC is in Standby. -> DVB Task Scheduler is in charge for closing DVBViewer or does DVBViewer itself see standby request? BR, -- MJo Quote
Hartwig Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Use case 1: Yes, you need to place DVBViewer to "Startup". But you don't need to place Scheduler to "Startup". Use case 2: I'm not sure about this behavioral. But if you have cheched the option "Use Windows Task Scheduler" and Scheduler.exe is available, DVBViewer will execute Scheduler, Scheduler will set the next task and the system will go to standby. On next recording, system will resume and DVBViewer will start the recording. Use case 3: DVBViewer will prevent standby. It's right, you can use DVB Task Scheduler to avoid this. Start Scheduler.exe manually (Trayicon visible) and check the Option "On Standby/Hibernate" and set the default action. A application can not detect which mode (standby or hibernate) was executed. So you can set it to what you want. Quote
Moses Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Use case 2: No, it's not possible to prevent the questions while playback or something like that, sadly.. I'm not sure if it will be added in near future... but I fear it's not a high priority task. Quote
sniiki Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 (edited) Having one problem my self with the hibernating while using task scheduler: I have task scheduler constantly running in tray (shortcut placed in startup folder) Sometimes, quite often, when I choose to shut down DVBV (=hibernate computer) computer just restarts instead of shutting down. Windows starts up and task scheduler starts but does NOT start DVBViewer. Usually retry does it and computer hibernates nicely, and when i start it up again, scheduler starts up DVBViewer like it should. This happens randomly and windows' system log shows message something like "scheduler.exe prevented system shut down". Is this because I have scheduler constantly running instead of having dvbv to launch it or should I tweak some delay timings in the scheduler.ini? but I fear it's not a high priority task. Atleast it should be! Edited September 24, 2007 by sniiki Quote
Hartwig Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Windows starts up and task scheduler starts but does NOT start DVBViewerThats right. DVBViewer is not in autostart. So DVBViewer will not be started. scheduler.exe prevented system shut downThats OK. Scheduler prevents it, but a little time later, scheduler.exe will continue the action. The time is needed to create the tasks. Quote
