DVBViewer reset aspect ratio

DVBViewer has been running flawlessly in my system for months but suddenly (no upgrade, no configuration change) the aspect ratio has started to be reset frequently. This occurs when I change channel or when there is a program change on the current channel, for example when a program starts after a commercial break. It doesn't happen always but often enough. It it's regardless of channel and I've upgraded to 3.8.0 in the course of this but the problem persists.

I have aspect ratio = none chosen and when this aspect change occurs, DVBViewer reset the aspect ratio back to 16:9 it seems because it introduces black bars on top and bottom. To reset it back to correct ratio I just have to change zoom level once - then it reset back. When I check the aspect ratio it is still set to none.

I've tried to enable/disable the 'Video format detection' but no change.

Any clues on why this happens?

Just a wild guess:

I had similar issues a few months ago after I installed one of the beta versions. I my case, the program added info files in the recording folder, regardless of whether I checked or unchecked the option to add information. Individual channel volume wasn't saved, where it did in previous versions.

I changed the usermode setting in the UserMode.ini file (in the DVBViewer root folder) and since then everything is as it is supposed to be. I think I changed UserMode to 0, but you'll have to try for yourself.

Hope this works for you.

UserMode? What is that?

Anyhow, thanks Bert - I will definitely try that. I'll post back with the results...

I changed the usermode from 2 to 0 which means that DVBViewer is using the program installation directory for configuration store. After moving the required configuration from the old store it actually seemed to have helped.
