Twinhan 1030A with CI problems

Hi

I'm using DVBViewer 3.8.0.0 with the above card.

The problem I'm having concerns scanning. I get 1044 channels after a scan of hotbird. I'm using the supplied transponder list for scanning. Lyngsat thinks there around this number of channels on hotbird.

When I look at the list of channels detected during a scan I am confused. It appears that lots of the channels are duplicated (many are more than duplicated) and many channel names are missing.

e.g

Arte FTA is shown as

Arte 11623 v

Arte 12476 h

in the channel list whereas Lyngsat listing for hotbird shows that it should be at 11623 v but not also at 12476 h

Multivision1 11661 v

Multivision1 12500 v

Multivision1 12519 v

Lyngsat says it should be 11662 v for tps and not at the two other frequencies. I cant watch tps so dont know which channel actually apears on the screen when tuned but Arte shows Arte at both transponders.

LNB is working correctly and I'm not using disceq or any complicated switch.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? (something obvious probably :-) )

Have just done some more investigation.

It appears that transponders with vertical polarisation have proper channel names and work ok

whereas transponders with horizontal polarisation have wrong channels listed under them.

E.g. On hotbird 10719 vertical has 10 channels listed on it and I can tune these correctly.

the next transponder 10723 horizontal has all of the channels on the above transponder repeated i.e. incorrectly listed on it.

Presumably my LNB is not changing polarity when tuning. DVBViewer and me are then getting confused.

Could this be a software setup issue?

Sounds like a deja-vu

Try transedit MMC and see if you then can scan all channels.

Download at download area.

Hi Benarty

Many thanks for you kind help.

I downloaded the app you recomended and it did a scan.

Initially it looked promising as I saw both horizonal and verticals transponder channels scrolling down the page.

I think the channel list it discovered has the same duplicates in it that the DVBViewer app has.

I have measured the voltage that the card is using to switch the polariser in the LNB and off load the voltages are 13V and 18V as one would expect. Maybe it is different when the LNB is plugged in but that is more difficult to check. Also when I select different polarity channels in DVBViewer then the voltage does change from 13V to 18V as one would expect. I think it is a hardware fault at my end.

I have a twin LNB so can swap over the channels. Maybe my LNB is broken.

Will investigate further. Thanks for the help anyway.

FIXED - LNB was broken!

I rewired DVBViewer to use the other half of my twin LNB.

Scanning then produced expected results.

So one half of my LNB is broken.

Many thanks
