Mika Takala Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Hi I just ordered Technotrend's C1500 PCI card, and I plan to set it up on my P3 800Mhz Win2000 computer as a network streaming server. What will I need (other than DVBViewer that I already ordered) on that machine - is latest directx and wmp needed? Will I need an MPEG decoder on that computer to setup channel list, so that I can verify functionality and correctness or does DVBViewer have easy channel setup system that I can blindly trust? Will my Cyberlink PowerDVD 7 on my client machine (C2D e6320) be sufficient as MPEG2 decoder? Quote
Moses Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 PowerDVD is a very good Decoder. On the server you won't need any decoders or so, if you just need streaming. It's not bad to have them there to verify that the hardware is working, if streaming isn't... but it's not necessary. It's possible to scan over network (and it works quite good), but I'd recommend to scan on the server using transedit, export the channellist and import it on the client, just to be sure all the channels make it Quote
Mika Takala Posted September 11, 2007 Author Posted September 11, 2007 Thanks for the Transedit tip, will do that. I will report how it goes when I get the hardware... Quote
Mika Takala Posted September 13, 2007 Author Posted September 13, 2007 OK, got the device. Technotrend Budget C1500 Installed BDA driver (Version 4.4.10.18). Transedit and DVBViewer find the card. Open transedit, try to scan channels with right parameters for this cable network ( http://www.ttv.fi/verkkoparametrit.htm ) No channels are found. What should I try to do next? Quote
Mika Takala Posted September 13, 2007 Author Posted September 13, 2007 Card and drivers seem to be working, as MyTheather did find channels. Is this card not supported in DVBViewer? Or should I try some other drivers? Quote
Mika Takala Posted September 13, 2007 Author Posted September 13, 2007 Supporttool output attached. Windows 2000 SP4 + DirectX9.0c Nvidia Riva TNT Technotrend Budget C1500, driver version 4.4.10.18 support.zip Quote
Mika Takala Posted September 14, 2007 Author Posted September 14, 2007 Any help please? My C-1500 is one of those new revisions, where there is also antenna-out connector for pass-through. There seems to be some problems with this card, but when I get all channels tuned on MyTheatre and when I try to record them, the recordings are just fine - so drivers and card do work. I'd be happy to provide any assistance needed to get this working with DVBViewer. Quote
Mika Takala Posted September 14, 2007 Author Posted September 14, 2007 Tested with drivers from the CD, 4.4.10.17, got same symptoms. MyTheatre finds everything, DVBViewer finds nothing. Quote
Mika Takala Posted September 14, 2007 Author Posted September 14, 2007 Now tested with Progdvb - it doesn't lock on any transporder either. What does MyTheatre do differently? Quote
Moses Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 no idea, theoretically that card should work... are you sure that you use the correct settings, especialy transponder list? Especialy the QAM128 setting is something, I think, DVBViewer won't try with default settings. Quote

Next thing I'll try is to install the card and DVBViewer to my desktop computer (winxp sp2, intel core 2 duo e6320) and see what happens. Quote

On this desktop computer with exactly the same transporder ini file, all channels are found. What is wrong in either Windows 2000 SP4 or i815 chipset/P3 800MHz, that my other computer have? Quote
Mika Takala Posted September 15, 2007 Author Posted September 15, 2007 On this desktop computer with exactly the same transporder ini file, all channels are found. Well, everything can be tuned on, but all of the channels have way too much discontinueties and some channels are unwatchable. Quote
