How to learn commands with Harmony 525?

Hi again.

 

Is there a simpler way to configure a logitech harmony 525 than this:

 

1) activate the buttons from Harmony Remote -software so the buttons send something

2) configure WINLirc to take the commands

3) configure DVBViewer to understand the commands

 

This can't be this hard? Even to activate the buttons in Harmony Remote was PIA, as I had to make a imaginary htpc in order to get the buttons work and now I guess I can't add buttons there...
