juhoaj Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 helllo! the mute function on DVBViewer works fine but i have severe problems with something mutíng the sound on windows (after which i have to find the damn mouse, exit full screen and turn the mute off from task bar. this is rather annoying and i have not located the reason or pattern for this. it occurs often when resuming from hibernation and i think it might occur also when the machine has been idle for many hours. it also might be possible the muting occurs more often when task scheluder wakes the machine. it might also be that my 12 months old son occosionally presses some obscure combination of the MCE remote buttons (he's very crafty at reaching for the remote) but i doubt this. My setup is: - XP SP2 with minimal updates - pro 3.8.0 - MCE remote - inputplugin for MCE remote (from member area downloads) - keymap ini for mce (from member area downloads) - task scheluder any help is appreciated. juho.a.j. juhoaj Posted September 13, 2007 Author Posted September 13, 2007 options -> directx -> audiorenderer -> default directsound device (there IS a reason it is the default!). ok., i am now at work and can not check this, but it is possible that i have changed audio-setting. so i should return a setting back to "default directsound device"? juho.a.j. juhoaj Posted September 14, 2007 Author Posted September 14, 2007 (edited) options -> directx -> audiorenderer -> default directsound device (there IS a reason it is the default!). i had not changed the setting, audiorenderer was still on "default directsound device". this is getting weird. i spent a couple of hours hibernating and resuming the machine trying to recreate the situtation. i had a hunch that the problem occurs when hibernating the machine while it has mute on. no luck. the problem occurs most often when starting the machine for the first time of the day. i left the machine open for last night and in the morning i 1. put the mute on, 2. hibernated and 3. resumed. this did the trick. DVBViewer had mute off and windows had mute on. enabling the mute on DVBViewer disabled the mute on windows & vice versa. there was also one another weird behavior. when the windows recovered, DVBViewer did not start up before i moved mouse, pressed a button etc. have to experiment more tomorrow morning.. (this is ironic: if this problem occurs only when hibernating with mute on, i could learn to write a script, that would put mute off when hibernating/resuming the machine. i chose DVBViewer & windows over vdr & linux because i didn't want to patch anytingh manually.) Lars_MQ Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 If you use the directsound device mute has no effect on windows. It only has effects on windows soundsystem if you use the waveout device. Quote

Lars_MQ Posted September 14, 2007 Posted September 14, 2007 on mce remote There you have your problem. The MCE does access the soundsystem of windows directly without asking the viewer to handle the remote key. to check it, use the keyboard command for mute in DVBViewer. this will not affect the soundsystem.
