Robin Posted October 11, 2007 Posted October 11, 2007 After a long period of successful use of my Skystar 2 with no obvious changes to my installation, suddely one morning the channel lists were gone, plug-ins missing from the menu, and no reception. I was using version 3.8. I uninstalled this and installed 3.9.0.0 Initially everything worked perfectly. However, when I exited the program, it would not re-open without re-booting, sometimes several times. The program appears to open, then freezes the PC. Sometimes, it refuses to close, forcing re-booting. Soemtimes the program launches, but only receives a selection of my usual channels. This is actually not a new problem, and is cured only by rebooting again. The channels are not all on the same transponder, not the same polarity. There is no apparent signal from the antenna Although version 3.9.0.0 appears in the Help/info screen, in Options/General, it still appears as 3.8.1.0. I have Windows XP Home. Grateful for any advice. Robin Quote
Robin Posted October 16, 2007 Author Posted October 16, 2007 After writing the note below, I have changed the HDD, re-loaded all the software and still, although everything works fine when newly started, after about 30 minutes I get a blue screen and close down. dezzy Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I don't know specifically about your problem but can offer some general comments. BSOD mostly is caused by some conflicts between different software trying to use the same resources in the computer. You can check your Windows log or read what it says on the blue screen to find the offending component. You may need to Google the component name that you find to identify the software. I had a similar experience a while ago and found that my antivirus software was causing the problem. The fix was to uninstall the AV, then install everything else and get it running, then finally install the AV again. Quote
