Oden Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 I use DVBViewer to watch DVB-S (tv from satellite) and have a FireDTV-S2 card. HDMI is used to send picture and sound to my LCD-tv and it workes excellent on 99% of the channels. The problems is when HD-channels are sent with AC3 sound code. I have downloaded some codec for AC3 sound but it is out of sync. Anyone have a idea what to try? Can it help to get a sound card with for example DTS function built in? Quote
fuseblower Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 In my experience it can either be the transmission (which the broadcaster eventually fixes) or what can cause a problem is the video codec used. For instance I have just upgraded the coreavc codec and there are lipsync problems. Try some experimentation. In closing I have never experienced lip sync problems because of the audio codec used. Hope this helps. Quote
Derrick Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 The transmitted time stamps should keep the elementary streams of a program sysnchronized. Some broadcasters send ac-3 deliberately a little bit ahead of the video stream. Better AV-amps have means to adjust the timing. This can also be done with the system delay of the AC-3 filter. Quote
