aydan Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 Hi, I'm experiencing hangs (100% CPU load) when I unlock the computer and don't unpause the video before loading another file or exiting the viewer. I then have to kill the process. Dunno if that's a viewer problem or a driver/codec thing. I'll post the support file tonight. Aydan Quote
Zero7 Posted October 31, 2007 Posted October 31, 2007 (edited) I had requested for a solution for same problem. It happens to me if I try to open another video file, while playing one. Ideally, the first one should close and second one should open. System hanging is a major problem I face in this case. If you pause and try to operate forward / rewind, time skip etc DVBV hangs. Moses Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 you could try to disable "dectect video / audio format" in options->directX. But I can't see anything that's faulty on your setup... maybe it's something outside of DVBViewer. Here it works perfect, so it's not a general bug... you should use a newer support tool next time, the one you use seems to be quite old. Quote
Griga Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007
MPEG Audio Decoder
The MS MPEG audio has a tendency to hang - it's quite outdated. Try another MPEG audio decoder, e.g. AC3 filter, that is already present in your system. you could try to disable "dectect video / audio format" in options->directX It doesn't affect file playback. aydan Posted November 26, 2007 Author Posted November 26, 2007 I'm using the AC3 filter everywhere now and still get hangs. Just yesterday I accidentally forwarded over the end of a (viewer recorded) mpg-file and the Viewer would hang. And thanks to this it's hard to kill the process so I had to reset my machine. I'll look into this further but if I don't find out anything more would it be possible to get a debug built so I can point you to the right spot? Greets Aydan Quote
Lars_MQ Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 commandline: -debug But i think its only a indirect DVBViewer problem. More likely there are somewhere in your windows directshow system problems... Quote
aydan Posted November 26, 2007 Author Posted November 26, 2007 I suppose it's time to reinstall my system. Quote
aydan Posted November 26, 2007 Author Posted November 26, 2007 Debug didn't do anything for me. Nothing in there shows anything wrong. I'll try to attach a debugger to the process and find out in which module the error happens. Then we'll see. Quote
Lars_MQ Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Debug didn't do anything for me. Nothing in there shows anything wrong. well sometimes it's more interessting what is not shown, instead of what is wrong. But since you being a little secretive about the log, we will never know... I'll try to attach a debugger to the process and find out in which module the error happens. One warning: exspect strange behaviour. serveral codecs do not like the presence of a debugger... Quote

aydan Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 It's still happening on a fresh install of Win2000. I'll try to pin down if it's OS or hardware dependent, since the WinXP on the other machine doesn't do this. Quote
