Lydecker Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Okay so I know the difference between the TS and PS formats is to do with how the different layers are encoded, However is there ANY difference between the QUALITY (compression, bitrate...) of the two video streams stored for each format when recording with DVBViewer? Cheers! Quote
Lars_MQ Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 No. There is no recoding involved only repacking in case of PS. So the mepeg2 data itself of the ts stream from the card is not changed. Quote
Lydecker Posted November 10, 2007 Author Posted November 10, 2007 Great, thank you! So there is no data loss/difference between the two - only the way in which it is packaged/encoded.. So why would one use TS for recording over PS? Possibly if they wanted to re-stream it or extract the subtitles? Is that explanation feasable? Quote
