Some pre buy question

I am new to DBViewer, still testing it.

It works OK on my Hauppauge HVR 3000, better that WinTV for sure...but I've just realized UK teletext doesn't work because it is unsupported?

Correct me if I am wrong, but that means that searching for this MHEG5 decoder is pointless because it isn't recognized by DBViewer?

Right let's go to the plain and rough....

I haven't bought DVDViewer yet.

There are a couple of issues which I would like to solve before forking the cash:

1) UK Teletext compatibility

2) support for Hauppauge remote control (45 keys)...probably I've already found a solution.

3) Preview doesn't work when moving from DVB-S to DVB-T and viceversa.

Dear DVDViewer developers:

Solve me those 3 points and you get a new customer!

Sounds a bit like extortion... :)

2) There are ways using girder or similar software.

3) I don't realy understand you here... what do you want to do? For example: Watching a DVB-S channel and previewing a DVB-T one? That works, if you have it set up correctly and have a DVB-S and a DVB-T device. I don't know with what version you are "testing", but this is a very recent feature...

Thanks for your reply!

Regarding point 2) You are right, I would like to switch to and from any channel no matter whether it is DVB-T or DVB-S...as it stands, in the way I configured the various codecs, the system stops when I use the preview and switch to certain channels...it is fine if the channels are in the same transpoder.

The problem is that I've been experimenting with various TV software including TVWin...each one seems to mess up with the codecs somehow...in fact I see codecs which I've never installed - apparently they are included with certain applications.

Probably it is better to do another partition and do a complete new install...which version shall I look for? where do I find the demo?

€15 is a good price for this software...but it would help to try a proper demo first.

Regarding the remote, I've never used Winlirc. I just use the IR software bundled with Hauppauge's WinTV and edit the IRREMOTE.INI file...so far, I've managed to get most keys working the way I want.

The OSD is quite comprehensive (if not complex)...I just need some time to figure out which shortcuts are best suited to my usage and then re-edit the Keyboard shortcuts and mirror them to the Remote control (45 keys).

There is no demo, because it was hacked to fast.

You got a point there...but how is anyone going to try the software?

If I look at the list of supported hardware...well, my card isn't even there.

Not many people are prepared to buy just reading the data.

The "feel" of the software is very important.

Suggestion:

Why not release a version without some key features?

For example a version without PIP and DVB-S (but with DVB-T).

Because it costs to many time to keep such a version up to date.

There is Transedit MMC to see if DVBViewer is able to deal with your DVB Card.

But this tool is not up to date :)here is a newer Version but without preview.

But all though not relay up to date (3.8.0.0, 3.9.0.0) :)
