zannad Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Most channels are ok, while a few others (e.g. SkyTG24 italian in Hotbird and other SkyNews channels) stutter a bit every 10 sec. or so. These channels are part of an interactive service (as far as I know) and they are all linked to Skynews. Is there any way to correct this nuisance? Interestingly, only the Video is affected, the Audio is ok. Also, there are some problems when starting DVBViewer. Sometimes all goes well and get tuned to the channel I was watching in the previous session...on other occasions the windows stays black and no tuning takes place. I have to select Rebuild Graph or Stop Graph and then reselect other channels...this sometimes works sometimes not. In fact often I have to restart DVBViewer. BTW: I didn't noticed this problem in a previous installation of DVBViewer (on a different partition)...the new partition is dedicated to TV only and is made of Windows XPsp2 + Hauppauge drivers, codecs and software + DVBViewer +nVidia Codec. Any suggestion appreciated. Quote
RichardWhite Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 This could very well be a signal strength issue. I had similar problems due to my signal being too strong. I used an attenuator to drop the signal strength a notch, and now everything works just fine. Quote

I've switched to Overlay and the stutter is gone completely. Quote
zannad Posted November 19, 2007 Author Posted November 19, 2007 Did you enable nvidia fix in options? Yes it is enabled... Unfortunately, the stutter is back even when using Overlay Mode. Maybe I'll have to consider the suggestion about the attenuator? I'm very fed up with certain inconsistencies...sometimes the channel is smooth, some other times not. What's the problem? I didn't experienced this sort of issues when using the sat receiver (the box plugged to the TV). Either the channels were ok or they were poorly received when the signal was too weak....but according to DVBViewer the signal is strong enough, yet some channels stutter even when using Overlay. Same inconsistencies apply when using other applications though, so it has to do with the Hauppauge card. Also...there seems to be a very wide range of brightness/contrast...sometimes the picture is far too bright and at times is too dark. Again, I didn't experience this problem when using a sat decoder (not a card). Using a parallel comparison with Audio, I think it has to do with a lack of compression of certain display parameters. I think I'll have to contact Hauppauge about that. Yet another problem...what happened to the Mosaic view? When I select it the display becomes slightly darker but not Mosaic view is displayed. Why?
