patti Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Hi there, I am using version 3.9.1.1 and when I press PAUSE when watching a TV-channel DVBViewer goes to timeshift mode with picture paused. When I press PAUSE again I can keep watching the program as in normal timeshift. BUT, when I want to stop timeshift and return to live channel feed I press STOP on my remote what happens is that DVBViewer plays the timeshifted program til it ends and then the picture stops. For example, I use timeshift for 2 minutes and press stop at 1:30. DVBViewer will then play the program for 30 seconds before it stops. After this the only way to get the channel back into normal viewing is by switching to another channel (and answering YES to "you have a recording/timeshift active, still switch channel?" question) and then back to the channel I was watching in timeshift mode. Timeshift used to work in version 3.6.1.20 so that when I pressed STOP DVBViewer stopped timeshift immediately and returned to live feed from the channel. The next version I have is 3.8.0.0 and this one already has this timeshift bug. Any ideas how to fix this? I tried updating the 3.6.1.20 installation with version 3.9.1.1 to see if I have made some errors/changed some setting when updating to 3.8.0.0 but this didn't help, the bug appeared with this ->3.9.1.1 update also. thanks P Quote
Tjod Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 It is not a Bug. STOP stops the Timeshift recording but not Timeshift playback. Quote
patti Posted December 18, 2007 Author Posted December 18, 2007 (edited) It is not a Bug. STOP stops the Timeshift recording but not Timeshift playback. So which button/function should stop the playback/recording and return to live feed? It used to be different in earlier versions. P Edited December 18, 2007 by patti Quote
hdv Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Hello, Pause -> start Timeshift Play -> start Timeshift playback Stop -> stop Timeshift, but it will be played until the end of the timeshift file! Last Channel -> stop the Timeshift-Playback and you will see the life feed Quote
Guest upspace Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 honestly i never understood the whole timeshift/recording handling. to me it is a little bit "exotic". everytime i explain it to my wife or some visitors at home "how" to watch tv with our fancy HTPC set-up I realize how complicated i sound... i have never ever experienced such a strange handling of navigation in music libraries, timeshift, switching channels and groups. you might say that is the way it is and it works but let me express my personal opinion at least. we all want to improve DVBViewer, don't we? because it is the best DVB-S app ever (and hopefully being the best HTPC UI soon too) Quote
Gae41 Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 (edited) I noticed too, in this latest version, that the "timeshift" is different. In previous versions, pressing STOP used to STOP the timeshift mode and then go back to Live Channel, yes, that is true. So pressing STOP now stops the timeshift mode and then continues to play the file to the end of the recording? Thanks. I'll try to remember that. I was wondering what was actually happening after pressing STOP. Gae P.S. I dont know if it's a "bug", but in the latest edition when I use "open video" with my remote control, the audio opens, but not the video picture. All I get is a black screen with audio. This used to only happen with TS files but now it happens with MPEG file too. It opens fine if I do it manually with the mouse. It's only a problem when using the remote. zeDzDead Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Hello, Pause -> start Timeshift Play -> start Timeshift playback Stop -> stop Timeshift, but it will be played until the end of the timeshift file! Last Channel -> stop the Timeshift-Playback and you will see the life feed Thx. I am wondering why it does not automatically go to life feed after "Stop -> stop Timeshift, plays until the end of the timeshift file!". Like that there wouldt be no missed seconds of life feed till you hit the "Stop" button again to go to life feed. Quote
