antdude Posted January 1, 2008 Posted January 1, 2008 Hello. Is it me or does non-HD (SD) have lower audio than HD? It seems non-HD/SD uses stereo and HD uses 5.1. Here is a screen shot showing AC3 playing non-HD/SD on my computer with a 4.1 sound setup (old Klipsch Promedia v2-400). Are you guys seeing this behavior too on computers and TV setup? Is this normal? Thank you in advance. Quote
Moses Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Have a look at the status bar of the DVBViewer in window mode, it will show the currently transmitted audio. I don't know about USA, but in Germany there are some stations that transmit AC3 Audio with normal SD TV. Most of them send AC3 2.0 (that means stereo) most of the time and AC3 5.1 only with certain movies. HD is most probably always transmitted with AC3 Audio (it's defined that way, if I remember correctly) and should be AC3 5.1 more often, especialy with new HD productions. Quote
