balky Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 Hello all, I have installed DVBViewer and have neither audio nor video, and also no error messages. When I start DVBViewer, I see the channel name, aspect ratio, 720x576 25fps, 192kbps 48.0 kHz in the status bar, but the screen remains black and there is no audio as well. At first I thought it may have been because I had media portal installed on the same PC, so I formatted and did a complete re-install of the PC with windows XP pro SP2. I have included the support.zip file and I hope someone can help me point out what I am missing or not doing right. My other hardware info is as follows: TV card - FloppyDTVS2 running software version 4.5D Asus M2N motherboard with NVIDIA chipset Graphics card NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS running forceware winxp_32 ver 169.21 A million thanks in advance for your help. This is shown by default even without reception. I would be glad if the staus bar only shows parameters when the filter connects to a real stream. You could check the source filter. I guess it says no data/not connected Further try the default direct sound device as audio renderer. But first of all you should check whether you have an incoming signal. IMHO the best way is to scan the satellite(s) that you think you can receive with TransEdit. Quote

Thanks Derrick, Funny enough, when I check the source filter (under view--filter) i saw the following: Video: Audio: Video State: No data / Connected Audio State: No data / Connected Filter State: Running Last Error: None All other values are 0. I ran channel scan once more, yes, there is incoming signal, and I tried the default direct sound device as audio renderer, everything remains the same, no audio / video. thanks once more for your support. balky Posted January 15, 2008 Author Posted January 15, 2008 More strange stuff... Just out of curiousity, I decided to try out FireDTV viewer that was provided with the FloppyDTVS2 card, and guess what... it works!!! Tried DVBViewer again and still have the same problem, no audio / video... DVD playback actually worked in DVBViewer, but the audio / video quality was quite inferior when compared to DVD playback using PowerDVD itself. Anyway I hope some of you great guys out there can help me... thanks, B. Quote
Lars_MQ Posted January 15, 2008 Posted January 15, 2008 no data/connected What channels are you trying to use. Please to copy the FiresatApi.dll from the firedtv/tools folder into the DVBViewer programfolder. Quote

balky Posted January 16, 2008 Author Posted January 16, 2008 Hi, thanks for your suggestions, I copied the FiresatApi.dll file over to the DVBViewer program folder and also disabled the send only encrypted channels to CI option, stopped and restarted DVBViewer and the situation is still the same, no audio / video. I tried to view the following channels on Astra 19 E: DAS VIERTE, France24, CNN Int and some other FTA channels. All have the same result. Thanks once more for your support. B. Quote
Lars_MQ Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 strange. OK we try two other things. First in Options -> hardware select the firedtv and delete it. Then hit the scan devices button. If this doesn't imrpove anything please start the DVBViewer with the commandline -debug. tune some channels and post the support.zip again. It will contain a debug.log textfile, which hopefully give some informations what goes wrong on your system. Quote

Lars_MQ Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Everything seems to be fine. Lets take a look at your SAT setup. are you using diseqc? Does a channelscan on Astra produce results? Quote
balky Posted January 16, 2008 Author Posted January 16, 2008 Everything seems to be fine. Lets take a look at your SAT setup. are you using diseqc? Does a channelscan on Astra produce results? Thanks Lars, Yes, I am using diseqc, and each time I did a channel scan there was always an indication of the signal strenght and channels were always found. I noticed however that the number of channels / programs found kept increasing each time I did a channel scan, there was about 1800 channels / programs on Astra 19 E alone. This did not look normal to me, so I went into the channel edit area and deleted all existing channels. I then performed the scanning again on Astra 19 E and this time it found only 373 channels, and this time when I selected one of the channels found, I had audio and video immediately. It works finally!!! A million thanks for your assistance. The only other issue left is that there are currently no German, Belgian or English stations found, I guess this has to do with the transponder list, I will see how far I can get with transponder edit and come back if I run into troubles. balky Posted January 16, 2008 Author Posted January 16, 2008 Ok, I still have problems with scanning channels on Astra 19 E. (The only one I have tried so far) Channels are not picked up in lower and higher freq. ranges. In fact, the first set of channels are picked on freq. 11538 and the last on freq. 12460. Nothing is picked on the freqs before or after these, and coincidentally, the most interesting channels are absent. I have edited the transponder .ini file, and I see in the scan window that all the changes I have made in the .ini file are taken into account. My KAON sat. decoder works fine and has all channels picked up. (For info, I always move the sat cable away from the KAON box to the PC to avoid conflicts in which device manages the diseqc swith) Thanks for your assistance. Quote
Derrick Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 Yes, I am using diseqc, ..could be that your diseqc settings are not correct and therefore you're scanning the wrong satellite? Quote
balky Posted January 17, 2008 Author Posted January 17, 2008 Yes, with all due respect, you're correct, I swapped the settings of the first two LNBs, astra was on A/A instead of A/B. The other two LNBs on B/A and B/B worked fine at first attempt. The other thing I found out was that you have scan from within channel list editor to have your channels and diseqc settings saved properly, all the while, I was going channel --> channel scan to search for channels, but somehow the diseqc settings don't get saved, so, when trying to view channels, the application uses it's random default diseqc settings which explains the no data/connected output under the source filter. Anyway, all works fine now, but still need to play around a bit on image quality settings. Thanks a lot for your support. B. Quote
