Bjur Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 I'm using DVBV a lot, especially with recordings, but after being switched to the second newest version, I can't get the DVB subtitles to work on the channels. Furthermore I can only see DVB subtitles on recorded Discovery Atlas HD through VLC. If I'm using either DVBViewer or Zoomplayer, I can't get the subtitles, which irritates me, since I'm primary using the two programs. 1. Is there a solution? It can't be right, that I can't see subtitles in DVBViewer any more and why can I see them in VLC? 2. The last couple of times when I have updated to newest DVB I have overwritten my earlier versions, instead of unistall first and afterwards install the newest version, because I haven't found a solution to save my settings when uninstalling the previous version, so I literally have to start over each time. Is there a way to save my settings? 3. When recording HD the commercials comes with and the file gets really big. Which program can I use to cut the commercials and keep the quality and DVB subtitles? Have tried TS package editor, but it took long time, and didn't get any sound with that. 4. The recordings in DVBViewer comes in TS format. Which program can I use easily and WITHOUT compromising with the picture quality to get from TS to DVD? Thanks for the help. Quote
IRa Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 1. Is there a solution? It can't be right, that I can't see subtitles in DVBViewer any more and why can I see them in VLC?Do you have settings/subtitles "enable if available" selected? for 2: I have never made an "fress" install, I always make the installation over old version and I can not remember to have any problems with that. 4. The recordings in DVBViewer comes in TS format. Which program can I use easily and WITHOUT compromising with the picture quality to get from TS to DVD? ProjectX (I think that is the only program that can handle DVB subtitles) to cut and demux, DVDAuthorGui (as an exsample, there is several programs for that) for authoring and then normal burning to DVD. If there is no DVB subs then you can also use Cuttermaran to cut commersials, it is more flexible to use for cutting than ProjectX. To run ProjectX you also need Java. Quote

Like IRa said, ProjectX and Cuttermaran are very good for demuxing and editing, but there's also an app called VideoRedo, which can import the original TS file, let's you edit with both frame and lossless GOP accuracy, depending on your preference, and can even output the files direct to DVD. Unfortunately, it isn't free, but it's worth its weight in gold. Edited January 28, 2008 by RichardWhite Quote
IRa Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 but there's also an app called VideoRedoCan VideoRedo really also handel dvb-subtitles ? (Bjur item 3) Quote
Bjur Posted January 28, 2008 Author Posted January 28, 2008 Thanks for the answers both. No VideoRedo can't do DVB subtitles. Have already tried. 1. Is there an easy manual I could try to get from ts to DVD with projectX? 2. Have heard from several other Danish members that they also have problems with seeing DVB subtitles. However one posted that he got version 3.9.1.1 which they are working, but now the only available is 3.9.2. Why don't they arkivate the versions and how do I find this partically version? Quote
