Leifus Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Hi all, I have DVBViewer setup on the PC (of course) but is only loaded when I click "Live TV" on my media software (J River Media - it rocks!).. If I have setup some programs to record at various times/dates, it appears that these will record ONLY if DVBViewer is running. So, my question is: After setting up which programs I want to record, can I close DVBViewer and have some sort of "DVB server" running - so this can monitor my timed recordings and record these in the 'background'? An example would be: I'm playing music or watching a DVD (via my MediaPC) at the same time I want DVBViewer to record a program. Do I have to have DVBViewer running ALL the time? I know I could minimize it and disable video/audio - but would that cause problems with my recordings? Regards, --Me-- Quote
themaster1 Posted February 3, 2008 Posted February 3, 2008 I'm not an expert of DVBViewer, just a user like you since 2 good months so take what i write with a pinch of salt but the option disable A/V has no bad side effects when you record a show that i know of. You can even play a dvd and watch it within DVBViewer while recording without problem. Well at least with me that worked Quote

You can even play a dvd and watch it within DVBViewer while recording without problem. Well at least with me that worked There are at least two setups to achieve what you're looking for. The first one (and likely easier) is to have DVBViewer running and disable A/V. You don't need to launch DVBViewer you can have it launched automatically by using TaskScheduler (download in member's area, there's a good manual in english in the download) and set the recording with A/V disabled + if you want exit when the recording is done. BTW Task Scheduler can also automatically wake up your PC from sleep or hibernate. The second one is to use DVBserver and the Recording service. This is a very nice setting, but I would recommend the recording service only if you're running Windows XP (not sure that it works under Vista). Search the forum for it. Quote
