MartinSat Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 I do not know where to put this its not a question or tip but here is my starting with DVBViewer story I started using DVBViewer last weekend with the main focus on receiving DTV. After going true all standard things like tearing in VMR7/9, solved this with the vsync setting of the graphic card after reading some postings about tearing problems and the adapting the saturation because of extreme oversaturation when using VMR7/9 mode. But after comparing PQ between overlay and VMR I decided (with a little pain in my hart because boy that transparency in VMR mode looks so nice) to use overlay. I use a old remote from a Siemens Nixdorf setup box that simulates keyboard key, so programming DVBViewer to use this was damn easy. The main restriction of the remote is the limited amount of key so that needed some fiddling but now I can do all I want with the remote. As I mentioned the main focus was watching DTV but because there was still a little time left after fiddling around with filters and decoders, I also configed the HTPC part of it, this really only took a couple of minutes. And then the big test, how good is the WAF of it, now this was amazing I have used a lot of these media players like GBPVR, Mediaportal, TT Media (comes with the card) and all failed on the WAF. But now my girlfriend was amazed about the PQ, the ease of use, that, while the TV was still running, we could brows true the list movies we have, even movies on the other PC's in the house, and just play a movie or some music ....... And boy I was stunned about how good the EPG information is integrated, during zapping there is even with a nice progress bar for the current running program, or use the channel list to zap and see what's on that channel that evening, in every part that I could imagine some information of the EPG is used, really great! Or little things like have a OSD list of the latest used channels for easy back zapping!! My girlfreind thinks I'm a king at the moment and thats always good So I what to thank every body that has worked on this product, developers, testers, forum posters etc.. for doing a create job. jf2020 Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 My girlfreind thinks I'm a king at the moment and thats always good So it's not about WAF but about GAF (Girlfriend Approval Factor)... Quote
Benarty Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 Same here. DVBviewers GUI and command structure , no GAF complaints and I find functions and stability more important so DVBViewer is an excellent DVB application. Quote
