iwens Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I finaly got my fire-dtv-c after some rather dissapointing trouble's with media portal, it now al works fine with dbviewer and the epgplus plugin. I already ordered my second fire-dtv-c unit including an new ci and athome card. I already found out that DVBViewer can support multiple dvb-c devices but how many devices can dbviewer theoretical support ? Also my thnx to the author of DVBViewer it's an nice sleak app which until now works flawless, the only problem i encountered is that i can't use the event name anymore as an directory in my main 2 tb storage. It dumps it all in 1 dir which get's filled fast . Maybe an hint for an following release shouldn't be so hard to code and it will prevent me to start uo d2007 to create an little util which does this Quote
Lars_MQ Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 2^31 devices. means 2147483648. But the firewire bus does only support 3 devices per Port. Quote

Djeep Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 If u use a dual tuner or 2-3 seperate tuners like FireDVT can u then see 2-3 channels at the same time in DVBViewer? i heart about preview, but can u in preview mode see teletext/ttv? Best regards Djeep Quote
Griga Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 can u then see 2-3 channels at the same time in DVBViewer? At least in 2-3 DVBViewer instances running at the same time (requires the according number of DVBViewer installations). can u in preview mode see teletext? No. E.g. installing DVBViewer Pro and DVBViewer GE would enable watching 4 TV channels at the same time: - one in the DVBViewer Pro main window (with teletext) - one in the DVBViewer Pro preview (picture in picture only) - one in the DVBViewer GE main window (with teletext) - one in the DVBViewer GE preview window (independent video window) if at least two DVB devices are available. Each device can be used for watching two TV channels, if they are broadcasted in the same data stream (on the same transponder). Quote

First of, thanks alot for your reply then some followup questions first the stuppid question, whats the GE edition? do i need to buy one of each or 2x DVBViewer pro? the next question is about 2 channels i need to view 2 channels in the same frequence, is that possible with 1 tuner and 2 instances of DVBViewer? its only the ttv i need. from both channels Best regards Djeep Quote

Griga Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 first the stuppid question, whats the GE edition? From the ReadMe file: DVBViewer GE ("Griga Edition") is an alternative DVBViewer version that is based on the thoroughly reviewed code of an early DVBViewer Pro version. In contrast to the official DVBViewer Pro it focusses more on the the DVB/MPEG2 core. Its simplified user interface doesn't support skins, and doesn't feature the multimedia database of DVBViewer Pro 3.x, thus requiring less ressources. None the less DVBViewer GE provides equivalent technical DVB capabilities plus some additional features, thus being suitable for "purists", who want a reliable software for watching and recording free TV channels on their PC, without HTPC ("Home Theater PC") or network requirements. Please note: DVBViewer GE does not support decryping channels with a CI/CAM. It is available as free download after having purchased DVBViewer Pro, like many other add-ons, tools, plug-ins etc. Once you've paid your 15 Euro, everything else is free, including all updates. Or with other words: It's a kind of ticket for a whole DVB software pool. i need to view 2 channels in the same frequence, is that possible with 1 tuner and 2 instances of DVBViewer? No. Two instances can't use the same device. I have two HVR400 (...) can I watch one channel using a DVBS tuner from one card whilst recording another channel with the DVBS from the seconda card?I mean different transponders signals. Sure. Switch to channel A, start recording, switch to channel B and watch it. Or schedule a recording of channel A, watch channel B - the recording starts in the background without interrupting you. In both cases DVBViewer will use the second device automatically, if required. Quote
