EVR crashes ATi driver

Hi

Just purchased the DVBViewer program and have installed it.

I have the Cyberlink h.264 decoder chosen and dxva on.

Whenever I turn to watch a h.264 channel, after a minute or so the graphics driver crashes.

It does a VPU recover and restarts or other times, just hangs.

I really need the evr renderer, cause I lack the CPU power, before it crashes everything plays smooth and with beautiful colors.

If I switch to overlay it never crashes, but picture is horrible and dxva is not running, giving me stutter.

Am on Vista Ultimate 32bit, Sapphire HD2600XT, drivers 8.2. FireDTV DVB-C.

I now just tried switching decoders, I have Arcsoft totalmedia Trial and ATi mpeg decoders installed also.

It does not matter how I change the preferred decoders on DVBViewer, they just won´t apply.

They change alright, but when I view filters in use, it always says "cyberlink h.264 ...."

Why.. ??

Do I need e complete reinstall of the program or what ?

You need to use an DirectShow filter manager (DSFMGR.exe from Microsoft or the equivalent from Radlight Filtermanager.exe found here) to change the MERIT level to make priority for the desired filter.

You can verify also the current schema for active filter using graphedt

Thanks will give it a try..

This will not mess up my vista mce config will it ?

For Vista MCE I have AC3 filter set as preferred audio decoder and Microsodt Mpeg2 decoder set as preferred mpeg2 decoder.

What is the purpose of having the option of changing decoders when it doesn´t work ?

Have tried DSFMGR.exe

It does not work, I can not get past the Cyberlink h.264 / AC3 filter kombination....

What am I doing wrong since I cannot change decoders ????

Please help

Please ......

Just read through the support.zip and in systeminfo.txt, there is this entry:

Videocard: Radeon X1800 Series

Version: 8.453.0.0

That is wrong, I have a Radeon HD2600XT ???

I used to have the above ementioned card.

Is this my culprit .... ?

Well I have cleaned out my system of old drivers, also in the registry.

So far no crashing when watching h.264 channels...

Crossing my fingers :)

Well it crashed on me again, need to investigate further.

Edit:

I have solved the graphics adapter being reported wrong. Now the support tool lists hd2600xt as it is supposed to.

Need to test with this in mind...

No dice.. still crashes on h.264 with the ATIKMDAG.

What do I do ????? desperately need some help

I have spent some time with the dsfmgr.exe, changing the merits of the decoders.

I set cyberlink h.264 to: "do not use" and Arcsoft to: "preferred"

This results in DVBViewer not being able to launch a h.264 channel.

"Can´t render mediafile error out of memory 0X800700E"

When I switch cyberlink to "preferred" the problem goes away and I can now watch h.264 channels.

Altough Arcsoft is still set as preferred h.264 renderer in DVBViewer.

What is this all about ??

It´s the same if I choose Ati Mpeg decoder, no piture, just the error message.

Something is telling my system that it HAS to be cyberlink and nothing else. So if I set it to: "do not use" in filter merit, dvbviever can´t render media fil....

Looks like it is only by interlaced h.264 material that I have crashes, when I watch progressive h.264 the system runs fine.

Anyone ?????
