SimonP Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 My setup: Server computer (Win2K3S) with 4 tuners running DVBViewer and DVBserver. 2 XP clients running DVBViewer and being fed by Unicast. Digital Terrestrial in the UK, release version of DVBv, no plugins, Gigabit network (although I've yet to see more than 200Mb/s). 1) The server instance of DVBv works as expected - I can tune to one channel, start recording, tune to another and record that one as well. However, on the clients I can only record one channel, after that it says "No hardware available" when in fact only one of the tuners is in use. Is this because I am using Unicast rather than Multicast or can I only record a second channel if it is on the same transponder? In that case, would I have to launch a second instance of DVBv to watch or record another channel? What is the best way of doing that, create C:\Program Files\DVBviewer2 or can I run two instances of the one program? 2) If I set a client to record a programme, does it have to be active to do it? I'd hoped that the network setup would mean that the server would do all the recording so that I could schedule a recording on a workstation and then switch it off and let the server do it. 3) If that is the case, I have to have both Server and Viewer running on my server? I can obviously turn off video and audio so it's not a problem but again, I had hoped that the Server programme would work stand-alone and both feed and record channels. Am I right in thinking that Server feeds the network with the channels from the Viewer program so both are necessary? Thanks in advance; the docs don't cover this area, searching here hasn't turned up anything and experimenting takes such a long time. Quote
Tjod Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 1) you need more Unicast Devices. Change it in the usermode.ini (DVBViewer Folder) [Card]Unicast=2 and than Options > Hardware Scan Devices. 2) Only Clients are able to record. 3) Make secure that in the DVBViewer on the Server (Options > Hardware) the TV Cards are on Do not use and only the Unicast Devices in use. Recordings have to performed by a DVBViewer either locally or remote. If you want to schedule a recording on the server_pc from a remote pc you could use the webserver control tool. My setup: .. Digital Terrestrial in the UK Maybe you could do me a favour -> http://www.DVBViewer.info/forum/index.php?...mp;#entry187112 Quote
