Graphiccard with independent TV-OUT

Hi folks,

this is a little bit off topic but I searched around the web and couldn't find a proper answer.

I am looking for a good cheap graphiccard which is able to display a screen on the

TV-OUT independent from the main monitor screen.I want to send for example the

DVBViewer Window to the TV-OUT whilst working on my Flatscreen in windows.

I know that the Matrox cards offer this function but I do not want to spend over 300€

for the recent products of them.

Any suggestions are welcome, thanks.

A Geforce MX 440 card (Abit Siluro) does the job for me and additionally provides hardware support for MPEG decoding. I think these cards a quite cheap at the moment.

After an adjustment of the graphics card settings for Overlay Mode, the DVBViewer output is displayed on the TV screen, even when the DVBViewer is minimized in the tray. It only works in Overlay Mode, however, not with the VMR renderers.

TV Out is not optimal (the picture can't be adjusted in a way that it is diplayed without small black bars at the top and bottom), but sufficient. I suppose, all cheap cards have drawbacks like this.

Thanks for the fast answer, is it possible with this card to run different refresh rates and

resolutions on the TV-out screen or do I have to set both screens to the same settings ?

My problem is that my Flatscreen doesn't support the 50Hz required for my TV.

TV Out sends normal 50 Hz PAL - like a VHS videorecorder - and that cannot be changed, as far as I know. The signal is created by a separate chip on the graphics card. It works independently and is not influenced by the monitor settings (resolution, refresh rate). So 1024 x 786 with 80 Hz on the monitor and at the same time 50 Hz PAL on TV Out is no problem.

Hi,

I just bought a Gainward card with a GeForce 4200Ti chip. It supports 2 monitor modes like 2vga vga+tft vga+tvout tft+tvout ...

It has even a video in with full resolution support (720x576).

I tried it in overlay mode and in expanded desktop mode and it works pretty good.

Only the fullscreenmode of DVBV on the second monitor wasn't working properly.

DVBV started to hang.

plus you can change the settings for tv-out like size and position.

Bye
