Fantastic news - I have just discovered that the latest version of VideoReDo-TVSuite can now edit .ts recordings without losing the subtitles, something I for one have been waiting for for a long time.

You'll need to download the latest Beta of VRD-TVs (http://www.videoredo.net/beta/VideoReDoTVS-3-1-4-557.exe at the time of writing), details of the release version are at http://www.videoredo.com/en/ProductTVS.htm.

1. Click on the menu: Tools>Shift+Options>Manual Parameter Settings and set #43 (Enable Closed Captioning and Subtitling) to True

2. Make sure 'Ignore Transport Stream Maps' is NOT checked.

3. Set the video driver to VMR9 (Options>playback Devices>Video Driver).

4. Check 'Display Subtitle' on the VIEW menu to make the subtitles visible during the editing process. (Sadly it doesn't "stick" yet but I'm sure it will in a later release.)

5. Ctrl-L gives you info on the video and will show if subtitles are present.

(Having edited the original file, you could then use ProjectX to "rip" the subtitles and SubRip to convert them to .srt if you want/need to.)

Their beta versions are generally very stable with only the new additions occasionally having problems and this one seems to work well. As far as I know the only problem is that it can't burn DVB Subpic subtitles to DVD yet but again, that is sure to come soon. I understand that it works with NTSC CC and DBV VBI subtitles as well, although I'm using it with DVB-T subpictures.

I imagine this will work for different audio streams as well, although I haven't tested it as I am in the UK and we don't have them.

I'm so happy! :)

(No connection with the great people at VideoReDo, I just LOVE their program!)

I am also a big fan of Videoredo TVSuite but please don't get carried away. It is not yet doing everything that the developers want. In their words an Alpha version and will be subject to much more development.

However, for people needing subtitles, like myself, a big step forward.
