Disable AV does not work when DVBV is started minimized

Dear DVBV Team,

I have a system with DVBV running on a Server PC with the Web server add-on for remote administration. The idea is to use the PC (which is on 24/7) as a PVR with remote programming through the web interface. This works very well and I have even used the web interface over the internet from the US (the PC is in Germany). Now here is my problem:

In order to get low power consumption I run DVBV on a Pentium M 1.8 GHz System with mobile technology, since I do not use that PC for viewng I turn off AV on the DVBV at all times. I only need the recording functionallity, the image is never watched on the PC DVBV is running on.

have found that when I start DVBV in minimized mode wit the "-m" switch and then tune a channel either by:

- Right click on th DVBV Icon in the tray, select favorites, choose channel, or

- Select the channel remotely with the web interface, or

- A timer selects the channel

The same behaviour can be observed when:

- the DVBV is started with the option "tune last channel on start" unticked

- and then DVBV is minimized WITHOUT first tuning a channel.

- Then a channel is selected by right clicking the Icon and selecting Favorites, e.g. BBC-HD

The AV is NOT disabled. This can be verfied by leaving the record stats window open, it will show AV as enabled even while the DVBV main window is miniized to the tray.

One Maximize-Minimize cycle will disbale AV in this case.

Manually disabling AV in the record stats window will be ok until the next channel change then it will stubbornly revert to "enabled"

This was fine for SD channels (actually it went by unnoticed) since the PC is powerful enough to decode the signal. For HD, however, the system will overload after a short while if AV is enabled resulting in corrupted ts files.

Actually this phenomenon has gone by unnoticed until I started recording BBC HD, since the enabled AV was not overlaoding the system in SD mode, with HD, however this is a problem.

If I disable the AV manually in the record stats window recording HD channels works very well. so I need to find a way to keep AV disbled at all times.

I am not sure if this is actually a Bug or normal behaviour. In any case the availability of a general "disable AV decode at all times" would be a very useful function for setups that are only being used as recording machines.

Please let me know if this can be fixed.

I have attached my support file for your reference.

A very good posting this. Sadly non of the pro's seem to have noticed it. ;)

I have the same problem and many users using the streaming plugin or the webserver will have it too.

I suggest you put this post in the bug section to receive the attention it deserves.

Regards, Pastimer.

I moved to the beta and using 'disable AV' in the graph selector works.

The beta is a major improvement in all areas so it seems.

But DVBViewer is still using 27-50% cpu so i'm a bit confused here. But only sourcefilter active. Strange.
