Araj Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 (edited) I recently bought a Hauppauge HVR-4000. The bundled software is Cyberlink Power Cinema. I cannot get any power at the F-connector socket for the cable to LNB. I'm unclear when and how the current (I believe it's supposed to be 13/18v for a standard monobloc LNB) is supposed to be switched off and on. When the PC boots? With Windows? When Power Cinema starts? The Hauppauge works fine for Analogue TV, DVB-T, radio etc so it's not a total dud - but obviously, as long as the LNB isn't getting any power, it's not going to work. Hauppauge support sent me an XP registry patch which is supposed to make disabled power at the F-Connector kick in again but it didn't help at all. I've tried all the obvious: another PCI slot for the card, deinstalling and reinstalling drivers and software and so on, but have been completely unsuccessful in getting any current to come out of the card. It has been suggested to me that the Xp drivers for the card are at fault (though other people seem to use them succesfully) or that the software is responsible for turning the power on. However, I can't find anything in the software to do that. Is switching to DVBViewer likely to help or have I just got a dodgy card ? Edited May 16, 2008 by Araj Quote
Ronski Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 (edited) My BlackGold card has a power connector on it specifically for the LNB, it's a four pin floppy drive connector, does your card have any additional power connectors? Now I'm only guessing here, but I would think that the power for the LNB is switched at driver level depending on what frequency it's asked to tune to. Edited May 16, 2008 by Ronski Quote
Araj Posted May 18, 2008 Author Posted May 18, 2008 does your card have any additional power connectors? Nope Quote
Araj Posted May 28, 2008 Author Posted May 28, 2008 In case anyone has the same problem in the future, switching to DVBV did make the vital difference Quote
