stream plugin from unicast client device?

Hi,

 

Currently VLC clients and NMT (Network Media Tank, Popcornhour) only work with the streamplugin, not with dvbserver. The reason is that there is no means to select a channel in dvbserver without DVBViewer.

 

Now i wonder: Would it be possible to have dvbserver and DVBViewer on your 'device pc' where DVBViewer uses dvbserver ('real' devices in DVBViewer set to 'do not use') and still use the streaming plugin in DVBViewer to enable the NMT/VLC clients (on another port).

 

If this is possible it would be possible to use dvbserver -in an indirect way- for NMT/VLC devices. The benefit of this is that other (DVBViewer) clients could use dvbserver at the same time (on another device or the same transponder).

 

I thought it would be better to ask before getting frustrated by trieing and failing:)
