DVBViewer for DVBViewer  ..you can use any generic client that can handle tcp/ip from the netstreaming plugin but only as a passive client like e.g. the VLC.

Two questions:

1. Why is only a passive client possible and could a plugin circumvent it?

2. Is the other way roud possible? TVServer from MediaPortal and DVBV as client (with EPG, channel switching...)

anybody wants tvserver from mediaportal?! the other way round - the fast and performant, stable tv engine from DVBViewer and the client ui from mediaportal, right?

Yes it's exactly what I want

1) the fast and performant, stable tv engine from DVBViewer

2) the fast and performant, stable media management from Mediaportal

Is it just a dream ?

I'm just opening this one again.

I'm split between using either mediaportal or MCE, but either way I want to use DVBViewer as default TV player. When you say passive client do you mean in Media Portal you can just switch channels, but not do recordings etc?

And is there an application that when you press a button, it will exit media portal and go to DVBViewer, and when you exit DVBViewer it will go back in Media Portal?
