DVBViewer Recording Format - Australia

I have a FIREDTV DVB-S with an Optus Aurora card. Signal is strong. I have set a recording schedule of 2 hours a day.

DVBViewer is receiving the signal from the broadcasters in various sizes. ABC picture is 544 X 576, SBS is

My question relates to recording of these programs. I capture TS files. They seem fine and are edited in VideoRedo which outputs the edited files in 4:3. However all the recordings are a letterbox view of the captured signal - that is the widescreen 14:9 and 16:9 transmissions are squashed into 4:3 with black stripes on top and bottom. They then play in Media Player as 4:3 with black stripe.

Is there any way to change the recording in DVBViewer from 4:3 to 16:9 format so that VideoRedo (for edit) and MediaPlayer (for playback) see these files as 16:9 and not 4:3?

The only alternative I can see it cropping the file which I do not want to do.

Any help would be appreciated.

No. DVBViewer records the video headers (that contain the aspect ratio information) as they are broadcasted. The software that is used for editing / playback has to take care of it resp. should provide options for adjusting the aspect ratio, if necessary.

Do you get the correct aspect ration when you watch the channels in DVBViewer? When you play the original recordings in DVBViewer? The edited ones?
