devo Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Hey, i've been searching up and down the forum for similar problems, also googling around but cant seem to find a solution. I've tried different bda/wdm drivers with no luck. I've tried changing different video render modes and mpeg2 decoders. Still I get discontinues (see included image) when i maximize, minimize DVBViewer or switching to other programs where DVBViewer looses focus. I used to own a dvb-s2 card, never had this problem then. Now im running a Terratec Cinergy 1200 dvb-c since my current appartment doesnt allow satelitedishes. All channels are QAM256. I basicly have no clue whats causing these discontinues. But i can see them in my captures aswell. If I leave DVBViewer alone when capturing/watching a channel then i get no discontinues and no dropped frames in my capture. regards, devo. support.zip Quote
Griga Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 I know this problem very well... most likely an unhealthy interaction between your Cinergy 1200 dvb-c and your graphics card, or the drivers, in conjunction with unsufficient buffering, resulting in loss of data. Particularly devices that are based on a Philips chipset and the according reference driver seem to be vulnerable for this kind of issue. I've experienced it with KNC, Medion... and couldn't find a solution, except for my Cinergy T2 (DVB-T) USB box. After putting some pressure on TerraTec (as a DVBViewer developer) they finally got it fixed in a new driver version. What you can try: Uninstall the driver, put the card into another slot, re-install the driver. However, not something to really raise your hopes. If this doesn't help, I'd buy another more reliable device, e.g. a FireDTV-C (external box connected via FireWire) - more expensive, more stable and well supported by DVBViewer. With my FireDTV-S I never get discontinuities, except under very bad weather conditions. Quote

Griga Posted June 4, 2008 Posted June 4, 2008 In an old report I've found another possible reason for discontinuities - the nView (NVidia) desktop manager. Is it installed / running on your PC? Quote

Klaus_1250 Posted June 7, 2008 Posted June 7, 2008 (edited) Check out http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml It can help you pinpoint the driver/hardware that causes discontinuities. Also, You have an ATi-card, but you are using nVidia codecs? Not sure if that is going to work a-ok. Try Cyberlink or ATi's MPEG decoders. I use a Twinhan Mantis Cab-CI which suffer from similar issues (they seem to be unwilling to get some real work done on their drivers, which is too bad, because the card itself isn't that bad), but since I switched to a 3850 (Cat 8.5), updated to the latest Cyberlink MPEG2/H264 codecs and downgraded the 1.1.0.400 drivers for the Mantis to 1.1.0.300, I can now minimize/maximize without a short loss in sound (which I used to have).
