What's "New Tuning Method?

In the options dialog and hardware page, there is a check box "New Tuning Method", but I cannot find any documentation about this option?

What's the usage and meaning of this option?

It means that DVBViewer communicates with the BDA driver more directly, hence bypassing the Microsoft Network Provider filter resp. its interfaces. Usually this method is a bit faster (if it works).
