balky Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knows where I can find a "cook book" on how DVBV works with diseqc 1.2. I installed a diseqc motor and tried scanning for channels using the positioner, gotoangular... etc Each time I try to scan, channels are found on the first transponder and then the dish is moved away (to the West) by DVBV from the position where it should be, and of course it finds nothing on the remaining transponders. Each time this happens. I use a friend's sat decoder to find back the original position (13e for example, and there is apparently no way to find positions in DVBV) and this has happened six times already, so there is definately something that I am not doing correctly. Each time I scan the dish is turned to the extreme West. I have a FloppyDTV S2, and according to information on the digital-everywhere web site this should work flawlessly. I guess I need to understand better how to use the positioner or gotoangular methods in DVBV. A million thanks in advance for your support Quote
balky Posted June 16, 2008 Author Posted June 16, 2008 Pity nobody responded so far... It will be really nice if someone could give some information on what they did to get this working... I feel too proud of this tool to go searching elsewhere for a solution :-( Thanks anyway... Quote
subdvbv Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Pity nobody responded so far...It will be really nice if someone could give some information on what they did to get this working... I feel too proud of this tool to go searching elsewhere for a solution :-( Thanks anyway... Hi, I have the same sat card and a stab hh120 motor and experience a similar problem. (Usals does not work correctly as it did with the skystar 2 card and progdvb) -The satelite never goes to the right position- it is always offset. My solution was to 1. find the relevant satelite (via a skystar 2 sat card and progdvb). Then once fixed on the satelite 2. switch back to the floppydtv card and DVBViewer and 3. store the sat positon via DVBViewer's Positioner Console once stored the motor moved correctly without problems. Obviously I would like to get DVBViewer and diseqc correctly working to but so far I haven't found a way. hope this helps Quote
balky Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 Hi, Thanks for your suggestion, it helped a little since I was already doing something similar to that, but with a friend's sat box. This is how I made it work finally: 1. Re-mounting the dish and motor, and making sure that the dish and motor are facing the "true south" at position zero, it is necessary that the pole you mount the motor on be perfectly straight. 2. In DVBV, Channel editor - edit diseqc, you need to enter the correct longitude and latitude of your position... (some internet sites like http://world.maporama.com/ can help you determine this 3. Close the edit diseqc window and click on scan 4. Create the root folder (Hotbird) and select hotbird in the transponder list 5. In diseqc, select go to angular and choose hotbird 130 degrees, and click scan. If you have mounted your dish properly, you will see it move to it's own position 13 degrees 6. Here is the tricky part, you most likely will not see any channels being scanned, unless you're a wild guru who knows the exact elevation the dish has to be and is able to set it with his eyes closed... I stopped the scanning and moved the coax cable to my friend's sat box, I ran the factory setup of the sat box and selected none for diseqc setup, this way, the sat box did not turn the dish away from where DVBV put it. Then I went moving the dish around (making sure the motor remains on the same position) until I found a good signal on hotbird... and voila... that was it... I put the cable back on the HTPC and clicked scan again, and this time everything from hotbird was found. Next, I created another root for Astra 19.2, selected Astra 19.2 in the transponder list and in diseqc, go to angular, and 192 degrees, and like magic, the dish moved to the right position and scanned all channels... After this the rest was a piece of cake... the go to angular works great My only wish to the forum admins is to have a sort of "how to" page where first time users can find this type of information. Many thanks to you all. B. Quote
