New to DVBViewer and struggling to see how to get the weather functions to work. I've got the weather folder installed in C:\Program Files\DVBViewer\weather and have set up a location in the Options, but nothing come up and I can't see an option in the menus.

What is it I'm missing?

Have you got the last updated version of DVBViewer?

Something was recently changed at weather.com, so in all the old versions the weather data retrivement won't work anymore...

So, to give us a real possibility to help you, please download the Supporttool you find at bottom of this page, run it and attach the generated file in the next post...

Thanks Gioxy - please find attached.

I don't think it's to do with my setup - I think it's more likely to be due to my lack of knowledge of DVBViewer

I can't see any location setted in your DVBViewer settings...

Probably cause are:

- a non-gracefully closing of DVBViewer (eg killed app...)

- insufficient permission on the configuration folder (see where it is located in "About / Configuration folder")

- some difficulty with SP1 on Vista (don't know much about it, but you can find more searching the forum...)

So please firstly retry to set your location, be sure to press "OK" after you get the right code from Weather.com, double check if it appear in the "Locations" list, then close down DVBViever with "DVBViewer / Exit"; this to be sure it write the data on the config file...

Then you can check yourself, in the "setup.xml" file (the one in the current Configuration folder!), if there is a valid location: you have to search the section "theWeatherLocations" and find something like this:

ITXX0067

BTW (and I'll beg your pardon for the stupid advise, but better be sure...), whenever you want see data in the Wheather page, you do have to be connected to Internet...

Okay - here's what I've tried.

There is a valid location shown when I look at the weather options within DVBViewer - don't know where it is picking this up from, but it's there. You are correct it's not in the setup.xml file in the config folder.

I removed the location, applied it, clicked OK and exited as stated. Upon re-opening the location wasn't visible.

Re-added the location, applied it, clicked OK and exited. Looked in setup.xml and it was not recorded. No section name theWeatherLocations at all.

Tried adding the following section manually to the setup.xml file, added directly after the <theWeather> section.

UKXX0078

DVBViewer still did not display any weather information and after closing I examined the setup.xml file again to see the section had been removed.

None of this has worked.

My suspects are now strongly pointing to the 3rd cause I mentioned before, but as I haven't Vista in any of my PCs, I'm sorry, but I can't directly help you any further... please search in the forum on this subject.

Maybe a complete uninstall and reinstall could help...

Or maybe choising a different Use Mode...
