Chris G Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Hi all, I am a complete newbie so please forgive the probably stupid questions. I have searched though the forums and read the instructions a few time to see what I have missed, you all seem to know this software inside out. I have stumbled though the software scanning and learning as I go with tips picked up from the forums. I have a sky digital dish with a quad LMB where I have attached my Hauppauge WinTV HVR 4000. Please could some one help me understand:- 1) I can view the standard channels BBC - ITV - BBC HD with no problems but what hardware or software do I need to view the channels found under BSKYB like Channel 4 HD ? 2) I have just started using Transedit to scan though various channels and using the preview option. Is this how you all set up your channels or is there a list where you can import the channels within your area. I have clicked on a few links found within the forums but they all seem dead (I live in the UK) ? 3) I have set up my own channel list after completing a scan, so I have two lists of channels within the channel list, my list and the scanned list. Is there a way to make OSD Channel List display a default group of channels, i.e. my list? Again, apologies if these seem silly question but any help would be appreciated. saiorse44 Posted July 12, 2008 Posted July 12, 2008 Currently, Channel 4 HD and all the SD channels from Five are encrypted. C4 HD expected to become free-to-air around October time with Five appearing "at some point". Untill then we still have BBC HD, Luxe HD and ITV HD* all FTA. If you have a legal Sky subscription, I believe that there is a CAM available to use your viewing card in, I am not the person to ask about this nor am I sure whether that sort of thing is allowed to be discussed on these boards. *ITV HD has not been broadcasting much since Euro 2008 finished, hovever there are a few movies this summer. Bob Hi Bob, Thanks for the advise. I presently subscribe to sky but not HD. I was looking for a legal way of receiving but wasn't aware there was such a thing as a cam. Regards Chris Quote
