John Hind Posted July 17, 2008 Posted July 17, 2008 Can anyone advise on the minimum fileset I need to "heist" to use the ArcSoft Video Decoder in DVBViewer? I used the excellent RadLight Filter Manager to identify ASAudioEffectHD.ax and ASVid.ax as the files for the filters I was using. I saved these files, reloaded my operating system and DVBViewer, copied these files into the DVBViewer programme directory and then registered these two files using Filter Manager (I discovered the hard way that in Vista you have to run FM "As Administrator"). This all went as expected and I selected the filters in DVBViewer/Settings/Options/DirectX. However on switching to a HD channel, the filters are still not shown as in use in View/Filters and HD video is garbled. Is it possible the ax files depend on some other ArcSoft files that are no longer installed? Help please! (can I say "Codec Hell?"). Quote

John Hind Posted July 17, 2008 Author Posted July 17, 2008 ..imho you're missing something here're my saved arcsoft files. Thanks. I'll do some more experimenting. SysInternals process explorer gave me the following: I'm guessing maybe I have a later version than you, and I must say that "checkactivate.dll" is a little ominous! Now I just have to figure out how to stop DVBViewer crashing on startup before I can change the settings... Quote
