LearningCurve Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 I recently wiped out my HTPC and installed all new software with updated versions. This included DVBViewer V3.9.4.0 and recording service V1.4.3. For some reason, the recording service icon stays red and thinks it is still recording even though it is well past the set end time. I can view the recorded file, it is no longer growing in size so the recording has finished. If I start DVBViewer it reports that the recording service is recording and asks if I want to stop it. If I click ok I get a message that the hardware is not available. If I exit DVBViewer the recording service is not re-started - it stays grayed out. I can't restart it again except for rebooting I downloaded recording service V1.4.4.25 but it behaves the same. I was using DVBViewer 3.8 and recording service V1.3.2 before I reloaded all new software. The devices I am using are an Aver Volar USB and Happauge HVR-980 - both ATSC devices. The problem is present with both devices. My system: Asus M2N w/amd X2 4600 Nvidia 7900GT 1Gb ram XP Pro SP3 Nvidia Pure Video decoders FFDshow decoders Quote
LearningCurve Posted September 6, 2008 Author Posted September 6, 2008 Well, I just installed a DvbWorld DVB-S2 Sat device and tried it. The problem is not present when recording only with the DvbWorld device. The recording service ends the recording normally and the service goes idle. Quote
LearningCurve Posted September 7, 2008 Author Posted September 7, 2008 I fought this thing all weekend. Numerous fresh installs of XP--> atsc devices-->codecs -->DVBViewer--> recording service. I put the support tool in the DVBViewer directory and try one last time before I run the support tool and the damn thing works correctly. Bullsh*t! Quote
LearningCurve Posted September 9, 2008 Author Posted September 9, 2008 Now that it does appear to be working, the recording service V1.4.4.25 ignores the fact that DVBViewer is set to record ts files. It will only record as .mpg. Is this normal for recording service V1.4.4.25? Quote
Lars_MQ Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 from the Changelog: New: The configuration is now independent of the DVBViewer configuration file: On first start the fitting configuration data of the viewer is copied. After that you can access the settings via Webinterface -> Configuration. The configuration files are saved (if possible) in the [user data]\config\ folder for easier backup. Quote
LearningCurve Posted September 9, 2008 Author Posted September 9, 2008 from the Changelog: Thanks Quote
