byngo Posted November 7, 2008 Posted November 7, 2008 Hi, I have the Nova S2 pci card from Hauppage and it comes with a remote. I followed some previous posts here a while ago that involved installing the IR32.exe from the Hauppage software disc, but disabling it from the start-up menu. I then installed Eventghost and I believe that uses the IR32.exe program to acknowledge/log the keypresses of the remote control which are assigned to the DVBViewer (and powerDVD) plugins in DVBViewer. This all seemed to work quite well, However, Not managed to track down if it was related but i started getting randon BSOD's (xp pro). I have now re-installed XP and everything else except IR32.exe and EventGhost. So far, I have no BSOD's which on previous experiance would have happened by now. I would appreciate the experiance of others in using the Hauppage remote and how they set-it up to control DVBViewer. Have i gone about it the best way?? Quote

byngo Posted November 8, 2008 Author Posted November 8, 2008 Try WTVIRBridge http://wtvirbridge.sourceforge.net/. thanks, ill look into that. I assume i have to enable the Winlirc feature in DVBViewer. I dont quite understand what winlirc is. Quote
Moses Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 WinLirc is an old software to use Serialport-based IR Receivers on windows. But you don't need winlirc itself. wtvirbridge act's like winlirc, so DVBViewer can communicate with it, if you enable winlirc support for it. Quote
dvbrewer Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 (edited) People have also got it working using EventGhost. It would be nice if the support was built in to DVBViewer though since so many users have this remote. Edited November 8, 2008 by dvbrewer Quote
