bda Posted November 9, 2008 Posted November 9, 2008 Hi everybody, How can I start a recording from standby/hibernate with DVBScheduler, without turning on the screen of my laptop? Is there a way to switch it off automatically when the computer wake up from standby? Thanks. Quote
Gioxy Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Maybe with the cover closed? (but probably in this way the laptop can't wake it up at all...) Another try perhaps is to switch off the display (with the Fn keys, like you have an external display) before put the PC in standby (again with Fn keys or Power button, if you program it to do so)... But IMHO it's a very unusual task... Quote
bda Posted November 11, 2008 Author Posted November 11, 2008 Thanks for reply, Gioxy.java script:add_smilie("","smid_13") Maybe with the cover closed? (but probably in this way the laptop can't wake it up at all...) No, it wakes up, but I take the cover opened to avoid overheat problems.java script:add_smilie("","smid_9") Another try perhaps is to switch off the display (with the Fn keys, like you have an external display) before put the PC in standby (again with Fn keys or Power button, if you program it to do so)... It turns on anyway.java script:add_smilie("","smid_15") But IMHO it's a very unusual task... Why? This problem should affect all laptop/desktop replacement laptop owners who plan a recording starting from standby mode (for example when they are not at home), if the laptop has not a physical switch that completely turns off the screen. I tried with Power Management setting in the Control Panel, but with not good results.java script:add_smilie("","smid_17") An simple option in the Timer window of DVBViewer, called for example Turn off the screen, could solve this problem. Gioxy Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 This problem should affect all laptop/desktop replacement laptop owners who plan a recording starting from standby mode...mmmh, IMHO not so many people to push OS or HW manufacturer to add this function to any PC... An simple option in the Timer window of DVBViewer, called for example Turn off the screen, could solve this problem.ok, that could be a real option... ...but maybe you can DIY with one of this utility to shutoff display by sw (...perhaps with the help of some dev poeple from this board; sorry, I'm not...) bda Posted November 12, 2008 Author Posted November 12, 2008 Thanks for your suggestions But, sincerely, I don't like dozens of small utilities running on my computer. DVBViewer can do a lot of things: -disable screensaver -standby/hibernate/shutdown the system -wake up the system from standby/hibernate ... If it could also turn off the display during selected scheduled recordings...I'll really appreciate it. Maybe in next releases... OK, that's all I had to say. Thank you very much, Bye bye. Quote
Gioxy Posted November 12, 2008 Posted November 12, 2008 I don't like dozens of small utilities running on my computerOk, I got it, but sorry that's not my mind, maybe I explained my suggestion too short... My mind was to call only one of those utilities - till that time absolutely inactive - right before a timed recording take place; this can be done (AFAIK and AFAIU) just adding a proper line to call that utility into a .vbs script you can find in the "Script" folder; I guess the right one for your task can be the "startrec.vbs" script... But unfortunately I can't help you any further in this task: as I wrote up, i'm not a (today) programmer - my last line of code is dated more than 20 years ago... I suggested you a DIY solution mainly because I'm quite sure that DVBViewer programmer(s) are ATM (ehm... well, you can read it quite always ) deeply involved in dozen of other things of much more general interest; so, if you need that function, IMHO this could be a real fast way to obtain it...
