robbo1 Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 I have just purchased DVBViewer and I am really impressed with the features of the software. However I need a little help setting up my system. I currently have it set up working perfectly with a single Pinnacle DVB-T 300i card. I am really impressed with the user interface and how it all works, so I have decided to get a DVB-S card to get a couple of Hi Def channels (BBC HD and ITV HD) with an aim to get a DVB-S2 card in the future when there are un-encrypted HD channels on DVB-S2 modulation. I have bought the Compro S350 - because it was dead cheap! My question is: How do I tune DVBViewer so that I can use two tuner cards from different sources (DVB-T and DVB-S). Some channels will be common to both cards (i.e. BBC1) and other channels will available on one of the cards (i.e. Dave on the DVB-T card and BBC HD on the DVB-S card). With this in mind, how do I set up the system so that I can record from one card and watch from the other. Ideally I want there to only be one of each channel listed in the EPG and channel list (rather than a BBC1 for each of the cards, which would be confusing for the wife), and for the card to select which one it wants to record/watch from (to prioritize from the DVB-T card to leave the HD card free I suppose). How do I go about this? I currently have the DVB=T card tuned to channel group B, but I do not really know how to use the channel groups to be honest. I would be grateful for any guidance for how to move forwards. I am putting my dish up tomorrow so hopefully I can have it all sorted soon so the wife stops getting annoyed with me setting it up :-) Thanks Robbo1 P.S. This is the best software I have tried and is a really reasonable price. The only thing I can see missing is a series link recording function. I had it on my DVB Web Scheduler software and it was really fantastic, but clearly DVB Web Scheduler does not have anywhere near the same functions as DVBViewer! Quote
Tjod Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 BBC1 on DVB-T and BBC1 on DVB-S are different channels for the DVBViewer. It is not possible to merge them into one. Quote

Thank Tjod for the information. So I will have two different channels listed in the channel list. So, from the experience of other users, what is the best way to manage this sort of setup. Do you label them "T-BBC1" and "S-BBC1" to tell the difference between them? Currently if I press record and try to change channel I get a warning asking me if I am sure I want to change channel whilst recording. With a dual tuner setup, presumably it is OK to change channel whilst recording, but how does DVBViewer handle this situation and does it still display this screen prompt? Sorry for the really basic questions, but I can't find instructions about this and there seems to be a lot of people out there with 2 tuner cards who are getting this to work, so I thought I would follow their lead with the setup. Cheers Robbo1 Quote
Tjod Posted November 16, 2008 Posted November 16, 2008 With a dual tuner setup, presumably it is OK to change channel whilst recordingYes but only to a channel from the other card (or on the same transponder if it is not a encrypted channel). does it still display this screen prompt? If you try to change to an channel which is in this moment not possible yes.Make a right click in the Channelised > Filter > Can Tun. Than will the Channelised only display the currently possible channels. For the installation install the BDA Driver than search for the new Device in the DVBViewer (Options > Hardware > Search). Than make DVB-S channel scan and it should work. Quote
robbo1 Posted November 16, 2008 Author Posted November 16, 2008 Brilliant Tjod, thanks! That filter works really well. If I have set that filter one, does it always stay loaded, or do I have to set the filter each time I start DVBViewer? I have one other problem. My PC does not seem to start-up from hibernation mode when tasks are set in the scheduler. It does for other tasks, just not for one set by DVB Scheduler. Are there any obvious setting that I am missing? Thanks Rob Quote
robbo1 Posted November 16, 2008 Author Posted November 16, 2008 Computer is now bringing itself out of hybernation. Not sure what I was doing wrong. Rob Quote
