styyxx Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 Hello. I have been playing a lot in the last few days with a client/server configuration. In general I am happy with the way it works, except for one annoying problem, i.e. that when I switch channels before getting a picture I must issue a manual "rebuild graph" command. This happens on encrypted channels about 50% of the times, and also happens on FTA channels (when zapping, after 4 or 5 channels I must rebuild the graph). This happens on both SD and HD channels. Sometimes I have to ussue the rebuild twice to get a picture. I am trying in local so there should not be a LAN communication problem. On a normal DVBV installation I have no issues at all. I have tried 3 different cards (FloppyDTV S2, TT3200 and Skystar2 USB CI) with similar results; I have tried them alternatively and simultaneously. For encrypted channels I use a viaccess 2.6 cam with a SRG original card and a seca cam with and original Canal Digitaal NL card. I also have a floppyDTV-T with a mediaset premium cam+card which is just as unstable, but that I already blame the cam for (it is not 100% compatible with PC card due to the MHP software) and do not really care about it. Once locked, the channels play beautifully with no freezes or other issues whatsoever. I have tried several codecs and changing paramenters in DVBsource, but to no avail. I also tried "automating" the graph rebuild via a script (suggested by moses and tjod in a previuos post) but it does not work. It just does have to be rebuild manually. Any suggestions? Thanks Stefano Quote
improwise Posted November 17, 2008 Posted November 17, 2008 I am experiencing the same problems, DVBServer and DVBViewer have great potential when they work, unfortunately, the times when it doesn't work are just to many. I really hope they manage to up stability and performane to match features. Quote

I really hope they manage to up stability and performane to match features. I've had to give up using DVBServer as I was getting too many zero length recordings (DVBViewer and DVBServer on the same box). Now on the lookout for another product that can serve TV over LAN to other PCs and an XBMC installation whilst providing recording facilities from Digiguide etc. Quote
styyxx Posted November 19, 2008 Author Posted November 19, 2008 It is a shame since DVBV is by far the best DVB program around, in terms of usability and reliability, ad a working client server structure would be great for those who, like me, have problems distributing sat signal around the house with coaxial cable. Hopefully the developers are taking note and the situation will improve in future releases. Quote
Springveldt Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I get the same problem especially with encrypted channels. Sometimes even after 3 or 4 rebuild graph commands I still get no network activity at the client. Change back to an unencrypted channel and I get activity. I have the "Has CI Module" checked on the server and the client, it seems very random as to when it works or not. Quote
