remlap
Hi, I cant seem to get S4C to display English DVB Subtitles Teletext Subtitles are fine but its just puzzling me The broadcast details are: 28.2/5e 12129 27500 V 2/3 Cheers if anyone can help me. Quote Link to comment
Griga
ATM I can't see any subtitle PID in the PMT (Program Map Table) of SC4, which would be necessary for DVBViewer to find them. You can check it with the TransEdit Analyzer, when there are "expected" DVB subtitles. Have a look at PAT -> SC4 -> PMT... Quote Link to comment
remlap
I can confirm there are DVB subtitles my technomate is currently showing them. Quote Link to comment
Griga
There are no DVB subtitles, at least none complying with the DVB specifications. Maybe they are hidden in one of the private data streams of SC4 (streamtype 0x05). Quote Link to comment

Griga
How can you be sure that the displayed subtitles are DVB subtitles? There is definitely no DVB subtitle stream assigned to S4C. Only the teletext provides two subtitle pages (page 888 and 889), as I can see in the PMT. So there are two possibilities left: 1) Your Technomate displays teletext subtitles, but something makes you believe they are DVB subtiles. 2) Additional subtitles are broadcasted in a proprietary format as private data stream, and you Technomate is able to decode it. I vote for 1) Quote Link to comment
Lars_MQ
Maybe Closed Captions? Try activating them in the subtitle options. Just a guess. Quote Link to comment
Derrick
..never seen closed caption with dvb Quote Link to comment
Griga
Maybe Closed Captions? Don't show up here. BTW: Welsh is an odd language... like Bavarian in Germany, or even worse, Swiss German. That explains the necessity for subtitles Quote Link to comment
remlap
SKY Satellite boxes handle the subtitles fine to, and its not teletext 888. Cheers Quote Link to comment
Griga
and its not teletext 888 Maybe Welsh subtitles on teletext 889? There is no evidence that your subtitles are DVB subtitles, they are not mentioned in the web (except by you), only teletext subtitles, e.g. http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/S4C http://www.s4c.co.uk/e_access.shtml and they are not listed in the PMT. So I'd say you are fooled by something... Quote Link to comment
