buttonsNI. Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 (edited) i had a perfect picture only using cyberlink 7.4 codec and evr for everthing (hd tv and h.264 mkv files) even with the viewer 4.0 no settings were needed for video A or B output. Both were set to cyberlink and evr this was before i changed my graphics card from nvidia 8600gts to a new ati hd4670 since this change only the playback of h.264. mkv has a problem. (no problems with hdtv) . a black square has appeared which covers 3/4 of the picture in playback playing around with this i found that h.264 mkv playback the setting for h.264 codec has to be change to FFd show video and render set to WMR9 WITH video B output set to "H.264,/DVBSource" this is what has worked to stop the black square from the playback picture but it now jitters why has this happened anyway ..from a perfect picture with no alternative settings using the 8600gts to what i have now? would anyone care to help ? many thanks Edited December 29, 2008 by buttonsNI. Moses Posted December 30, 2008 Posted December 30, 2008 Are you using DXVA Mode of the cyberlink decoder? Most probably your new ati card doesn't correctly understand the options that where used for your mkv files, but your nvidia card did. ffdshow decodes completely in software, so the video card doesn't matter. Do you have a dual core cpu? Then maybe the jitter with ffdshow can be removed by using the newer mt ( = multithreading) builds of ffdshow, which are available through sourceforge in another branch of the project. Quote
buttonsNI. Posted December 31, 2008 Author Posted December 31, 2008 yes i have the dxva option ticked in the cyberlink decoder, and im aware that the ffd is software only..im using all up-to-date vista codecs package. everything is ok with what i have to do in order to get the mkv files playing back correctly .the thing which upsets me is that im now using the WMR9 to render and i feel i am loosing quality in playback of h.264 mkv. than with EVR. the jitter is 3-4 (not to bad) but the colour dept and clarity seems not just as good (only on mkv playback) perhaps this is my imagination in the differance between EVR and WMR9 i thought i was doing a good thing getter a better graphics and in all honesty i really believe my new card produces a far better quality in viewing the TV than the 8600gts ,,,even the ods channel banner text quality is perfect now ,,,its just the loss of EVR on mkv......... thanks for reply moses Quote
