Is there a list of supported CAMs in DVBViewer? If there is not can we make one with help of forum users? Usefull info would be:

CAM type: Oasis2 fw:xxyy

Card provider: TotalTV

DVB-S/S2 Hardware/Driver version: Tecnisat Skystar HD2 v1.1.1.302

CI module: Technisat CI for SSHD2

DVBViever version: 4.0.0

OS: Vista x64 SP1

Status: Not tested yet

The question is formulated wrong.

The viewer does know nothing about CAM it only knows about special functioncalls of some dvb-hardware drivers which interface with the CI on this hardware.

CAM handling itself is done entirely by the dvb-hardware/driver. If it can't handle a CAM type, the DVBViewer can't do anything.

So you have to ask:

- has the DVBViewer CI support for this dvbhardware/driver combination.

- Can the dvbhardware/driver version handle the CAM "xyz" with firmware "abc".

- Can the CAM/firmware version handle the encryption of the wanted payTV channels.

You see it is not as easy as you may think :)

Haha, is it ever?

I agree that technical value of my questionere is kind of low but I'm counting on "real life" expirience of DVBV forum users. IMO it will provide good info for those starting from scratch and give them a chance to buy a hardware tested with specific paytv provider.
