Technofriend Posted January 24, 2004 Posted January 24, 2004 Schweiz/Austria: 650 Germany: 450 I know that this is not new, but is there a reason for that? Do they need the spare bits for AC3, or do they use a better compression (eg. very variable bitrate) ? As the bitrate seems to fluctuate much more on the german channel. EDIT: I just made a bit more research: It's the same with all channels that I tried: Sat1, Pro7, RTL2, Kabel1. As a rule of thumb I found that it is always a good idea to choose the austrian version of a channel by default if quality is the issue. Or the german channel if harddisk-space is the issue... Quote
Klausing Posted January 25, 2004 Posted January 25, 2004 Yes AC3 needs a bit from the whole bitrate. Bitrate = A+V <-- Schweiz and Austira Bitrate = A+V+AC3 <-- Germany IMHO is the Bitrate the same. On the recorder window you see only for the recordet PINs (V+A or V+AC3) Thats the reason why schweiz and Austria have a better picture. Steffen Quote
