robbo1 Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Hi there I have a problem with the sound with BBC HD (not sure if it happens with other HD channels since Luxe TV doesn't seem to work and ITV HD seem to never actually show anything worth watching). When I start DVBViewer the sound and video works fine, but if the audio transmission changes from digital 2.0 to digital 5.1 the sound stops being decoded correctly and sounds like loud static noise. If I open up DVBViewer settings and change the audio DirectX setting to a different setting (eg directsound SB24, but doesn't matter which) and then click OK, the problem is fixed (all codec as set to default for system). If I then go back to the previous settings and click OK it continues to work (even though the same setting didn't work before). Once I have done this the problem does not re-occur again (unless I close DVBViewer and re-start it). exact TV-card model and used driver version = Compro S350 with latest driver. type and chipset of the mainboard = MSI K8N Neo SLi and I output the audio via the SPDIF out from the mainboard (with windows setting set to DD passthrough SPDIF). This goes into a Denon AVR 1909 amp which does the decoding. Again, latest drivers loaded. graphics card and useed driver version = NVIDIA 9400GT (not in SLi mode) with 181.XX driver (will update tonight with exact driver loaded, but it is only 3 weeks old and only just replaced by 182.06 which I can not get to load on my PC for some reason) Thanks in advance. Griga Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 (all codec as set to default for system). Not good. Obviously your system prefers an AC3 decoder that is not able to handle the change. Select a specific one that does a better job. Or install the free AC3 Filter and select it. Quote
robbo1 Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 Excellent, I will give it a try. Thanks for your help. Robbo1 Quote
robbo1 Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 I downloaded the audio codec you suggested and it seems (so far) to be working a treat! The new codec has also sorted out the audio levels when I watch a DD channel (which with the system default was very quiet in comparison to the MPEG2 audio). I will keep an eye on it, but I think you have solved my problem. Thanks Robbo1 Quote
