AndrueC Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Hiya. I got myself a PS3 last week and I'm trying to work out to stream from DVBViewer to it. The PS3 finds the DVBViewer media server but selecting it achieves nothing no matter how long I leave it. Periodically the PS3 reports a 'DNLA 2006' error - even when sitting idle. My server set up allows me to stream across my network to my desktop PC but is dependant on the DVBServer application running on the server (which BTW is another question - is there a service I can start instead?). The PS3 doesn't seem to stream whether the DVBServer application is running or not. I mention these just in case they prove something useful about my system setup. FYI I can stream to the PS3 using TVersity and (once, lol) from another media server called PMS. Tbh streaming from DVBViewer isn't an essential requirement but I'd like to have it workng if it's possible. What I really want is to view recordings on the PS3 but I'll ask that in a separate thread to avoid confusion. Quote
AndrueC Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 (edited) I got myself a Sony PS3 last week and from my tests it appears that although it can playback some HD .TS files most fail. Looking around the web suggests this is a known issue. One solution is to demux the stream into a different format (m2ts being recommended). This works but leaves the audio out of sync. Are there any experts here that could shed any light on the problem or recommend areas I could investigate? Some kind of 'primer' on how video streams are encoded would be helpful. I'm a software developer but I have no experience of A/V topics so am floundering a bit at the moment. The PS3 is clearly better at playing back HD content than my PC (as well as being quieter) and if I could get it to read the DVBViewer recordings I'd have a complete setup based around my A/V equipment instead of coercing my desktop PC.
