zeflash Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Hi, I've recently set up DVBViewer as server & client using dvbserver & the unicast plugin, so that I can also control & see the TV from the laptop. It works fine but I have one issue: on the laptop, I have to first tune to the last tuned channel on the HTPC in order to see something, and then to be able to change channels. To be clear: I have copied channel.dat from the htpc to the laptop in order to get the same channels. - on HTPC, I'm watching channel 1 - I start DVBViewer on the laptop - it doesn't show anything - trying to tune to channel 2 or 3 or etc, anything except channel 1, won't show up anything - tuning to channel 1 shows the channel on the laptop. From there, I can control what I see on the laptop "as normal". Then I have to do the same kind of manipulation (first go to the past tuned channel, then be able to switch to whatever I want) on the HTPC. It's kinda frustrating because I haven't figured any way to know what was the last tuned channel, so I have to guess. Have I missed something? I've noticed that if I close the DVBViewer app on the HTPC then I can do whatever I want on the laptop... But I want to keep it running on the htpc at all time. Is there a way to somehow make the latest control request the "master" ? meaning whenever I'm switching a channel from one place or from another, it's still going to tune dvbserver to that channel. Thanks Quote
mr_chaela Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 I use DVBServer on my centralised HTPC with DVBViewer/UNicast Ntework Device as control clients in various rooms around the house on a wired network and am also experiencing the same problem. A fix for this would really be appreciated. Also I find that I am unable to use DJBlu's epg updater with this setup, perhaps due to DVBServer not streaming the whole transponder. I have tried connecting DJBlu's plugin directly to DVBServer and also to a client netstream plugin. Is there any way to get this working? Quote
zeflash Posted March 29, 2009 Author Posted March 29, 2009 Seems to me that the fix would be to simply acknowledge the tune command from any control clients, independently of their start order; If two control clients are connected at the same time, they can both control the tuning - it will probably lead to some discussions with my wife (hey I was watching something down here!!!) but in the end it's still much more simple than the current setup. Ideally, it would be even better if the DVBServer would send back the current tuned channel - this way all the clients are synchronized in the case there is only one TVcard installed in the server - a case I believe is most common. zeflash Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 I wish someone would reply on that issue. How exactly is anyone's setup working? Do you always close up a DVBViewer instance on computer A when you want to watch the TV on computer B? Wouldn't it be a simple change to make the dvbserver obey to every control client, no matter who started first? Pretty sure it's easier than to implement some kind of communication from the server to the client to broadcast which channel is currently on - so that a new instance of a client can tune directly to that channel. zeflash Posted April 23, 2009 Author Posted April 23, 2009 hello? hello? Are we users all alone on this forum? Quote
Springveldt Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 Get the latest beta and the latest RecordingService beta. I think that has client priority built into it. I've not tested it though. Quote
zeflash Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 Can I use the recording service with the official 4.0 client? the timebomb in the beta client makes it very wife-unfriendly Quote
