lazo Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 (edited) Upscaling Sd Channels Possible with DVBViewer ??? If it is possible please Can you share your codec and DVBViewer settings experiences ? Edited April 18, 2009 by lazo Quote
frazer Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Hello, Upscaling is not really the job of the software, but your graphics card or graphics chipset; whatever resolution you have your output set to is what the picture will be upscaled to. But some resolutions, refresh rates and some codecs will work better than others; and this will probably depend largely on the hardware you are using, and will just need a little testing to find the best combination for you. What renderer you have set in the DVBViewer options will have an effect to. Having said that, I have two set ups, one with an ATI graphics card and the other with an NVIDIA, and I find that the Cyberlink codec from PowerDVD gives a very good picture with both of them, with my output set to 720p (1280x720) and the refresh rate at 50Hz. If, for example, I set the resoution to match my LCD screen at 1366x768, the picture looks good still but is noticeably jerky. I use different renderers on the two though, as again the wrong choice of renderer will make the picture a little jerky in some combinations I have found. I hope someone will correct me if any of this is wrong! Frazer Quote
lazo Posted April 19, 2009 Author Posted April 19, 2009 @frazer thanks for your answer I use 42 inch toshiba z3030 with 1920 1080 resolution at 60 Hz from hdmi . as you know many sd channels have low resolutions and low video bitrates and also with these bad conditions if you want to watch an old movies the picture quaility is really awful . I use cyberlink 8 codecs for hd and sd broadcasts .They are really good . But important point for me try to make bad broadcasts better . I know they can.t be perfect . but if the codecs have magical settings I want to know them . for example many people say that ffdshow can make upscale . but I couldn.t find any information except this . and also many people use graphedit . but I just installed codecs and I choose which codecs I want to use from DVBViewer settings . Is it necessary to use graphedit ? Quote
lanterna Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Hello, I tried ffdshow and I must say that the upscaling with low resolution channel has very good results. Try to use the CyberLink codec 8, and set ffdshow as postprocessing plugin. In ffdshow you must set values resize, try to set different values for good results. You must set also sharpen and noise reduction for better results. Quote
