Lostinstreaming Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 OK, I have spent almost 24 hours trying to get DVB Streaming to work. Apparently something is not working properly, or perhaps I have found tutorials that are old? There are so many versions with different solutions, some with VLC and some done before the Netstreaming plugin was included in DVBViewer... I thought it would be best to use the original software on both computers, so I installed the latest version of DVBViever Pro on both computers. They are both connected to a gigabit LAN router. The server is a Vista machine and the client is a XP Pro. And yes, I have given Windows firewall an exception on the server computer. I then tried following the guide on http://blog.paelli.org/?p=4 because I thought it looked pretty detailed. But no luck. I can follow it down to the Client configuration, but the client computer cannot find "Unicast Network Device" and no "Multicast Network Device" either. I tried following the guide on http://www.DVBViewer.com/en/index.php?page...ter=g⊂=g5 but no luck. Here I am instructed to set in the "options dialogue (DirectX) and set multicast or unicast network device as current device:". But I cannot find any such options under DirectX in my client computer. I tried both Unicast and Multicast. I tried to use the "easier" way of streaming, the one mentioned in the end of that last webpage: "In the options - network dialogue you find an input mask similar to the DVBServer. " But I cannot find any network dialogue under options. If I go to the Netstreaming plugin and try to send with Unicast, it doesen´t send anything. I know, I have a Vista Gadget that shows network activity. It stays completely flat. Also when I try to activate DVBViewer Server the network activity stays completely flat. However, if I try to send with Multicast it appears to be sending since the Gadget can see a stream being constantly sent out into the network, but my client computer cannot find and connect to the stream. I can see no device at all in my client computer under SETTINGS-OPTIONS-HARDWARE. What is my next step? I don´t know how to get this freaking thing to work. Is it a Vista-thing, is it me or what is it??? Are there any official or unofficial guides that are accurate and updated? Quote
AdamSlim Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 +1 for streaming problems. I seem to be close, but not there yet! My status: Server is set up with the Plugin for NetStream, set to Unicast, stream whole transponder. Client sees the Server, via the discover. If I change things on the Server, the Client setting also change, so that seems to work. In the Client Hardware Options, I have the Unicast Network Device set as preferred (no others there), set to Terrestrial and with the same setting (no CI module etc) as on the Server. I have copied the Channel List from the Server to the Client, and the Europe.ini as my rubbish TV card needed an offset applied to the standard transponder freqs. BUT Whenever I try to select a channel, I get the 'No Hardware Available' fail. If I try to scan channels, no device is present (Current Device is blank). Any help much appreciated! Using V4.1.1.1, Win XP both machines, Firewall disabling makes no difference. Quote
Lars_MQ Posted June 6, 2009 Posted June 6, 2009 Server is set up with the Plugin for NetStream, Please explain. Do you use the netstreaming plugin or the dvbserver? The DVBViewer does not accept a netstreaming plugin stream anymore, this has been removed in favor to more control over the network devices in concert with the dvbserver/recording service. Quote
Dozzy Posted July 19, 2009 Posted July 19, 2009 As first , sorry for responding to an old thread, but i cant get streaming to work either. Here I am instructed to set in the "options dialogue (DirectX) and set multicast or unicast network device as current device:". But I cannot find any such options under DirectX in my client computer. At this part i also got lost , i though it was supposed to be "Hardware" , and click "Settings" but for my devices , that unable to do (greyed out). I tried to make an Unicast device, that worked , but encrypted channels dont work , and the device doesnt show up in DVBServer. Any idea how i can still get streaming to work? Quote
