robbie2 Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 I find that in order to get any sound for (UK) BBC HD I need to use an AC3 add-in such as AC3 Filter. However, I am running Windows 7 (x64 RC) and find that Windows Media Center works perfectly well with the codecs provided by Windows. I am intrigued as to why DVBViewer isn’t able to use the Windows AC3 codecs. Perhaps it is just my set-up. I have tried using combinations of decoders and renderers settings within DVBViewer >Settings > DirectX including Microsoft DVT-DVD and SPDIF Out, without success, and notice that in >View >Filters, the Microsoft DVT-DVD Decoder items are greyed out. I assume that this means that the Direct Show components are inactive. Grateful for any suggestions as to how to get this working. My only current plug-in is DVBViewer Filter 3.4.0 Many thanks Quote
ter9999 Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Latest AC3Filter doesn't work well under 64-bit Windows 7 RC. You can try ffdshow audio filter to decode (enable in Codecs page) and output AC3 to default DirectSound audio renderer. Quote

Sorry if I didn’t explain clearly, but the AC3Filter is working OK on my set up. I just thought that if Windows 7 comes with the codecs to run BBC HD on WMC, there must be some tweaks I am missing that would enable me to get the sound on DVBViewer without installing a third party codec from the likes of AC3 Filter, K-Lite etc. Why for instance does >View > Filters show the Microsoft DVD_DTV decoders greyed out when AC3Filter is not installed? How can they be activated? Basically, a learning exercise about Windows 7 and DVBViewer. Cheers Quote
