robbo1 Posted May 12, 2009 Posted May 12, 2009 Is there any plan to allow combining of channels from different tuners so that you only have one channel listed in the programme list? This would make navigation much easier, but it would need to have a priority system so you can set which card you want to use up first. Thanks Rob Quote
robbo1 Posted May 16, 2009 Author Posted May 16, 2009 Just for my knowledge, is my suggestion something that might be considered, or is it not the development direction that DVBViewer is taking. Thanks Robbo1 Quote
uglyned Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I agree, this would be useful for me. Hope I've understood what you mean properly. I have terrestrial and satellite tuners. Most of the channels I watch are broadcast on both - BBC, ITV, '4' family of channels etc. I prefer satellite and will always use that to record / view when there are tuners available. But sometimes I have more recordings than satellite tuners. In this case I can use terrestrial because most of my channels are also broadcast there. So it would be nice for me to create, for instance, a BBC1 'family' of channels and dump all my BBC1s - satellie and terrestrial - in there. Then when recording service comes to record something and all my satellite tuners are taken up, it can still record BBC1 from the terrestrial tuner. I wondered if channel groups did that already in DVBViewer but Tjod kindly explained that they're used for something else. Quote
robbo1 Posted May 18, 2009 Author Posted May 18, 2009 That's the sort of think I was getting at. Basically, so that you only have one listing of each actual channel (but "underneath" the channel there are a number of different sources of that channel. My wife clearly doesn't know the system well enough to remember (or even understand) what channels are on the same TS and when she needs to select BBC ONE from the DVB-S or if she has to use the DVB-T (for instance if something is being recorded from another TS). If the system could do it for you it would make life loads easier for her - and that would make life easier for me of course Quote
Griga Posted September 17, 2011 Posted September 17, 2011 DVB doesn't provide data enabling a reliable channel recognition across networks. The only possible solution would be an option allowing users to manually define channels as equal. However, maintaining such a list, keeping it up-to-date and synchronized with the channel list would be quite cumbersome. And there are additional difficulties, particularly time-sharing. Two channels on different networks may be equal during the day, but not during the night. It would mean quite a lot of work for developers and users. Not really attractive... Quote
esperado Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 It would mean quite a lot of work for developers and users. Not really attractive... Well, not so much, OMHO. Just the ability to change station names (keeping original not printed). Definite a master channel by original reference, and slaves.Very easy, on my point of view, if the original code is clear enough. In fact, it is not really functionality, just changes in presentation. And the channel list can be improved in DvbVewer, for sure. On my side, i'm obliged to use 3 different instances of DVBViewer, as i use 3 tuners for the same TNT. Would be useful for EPG as well. Sometimes, the same program exists in HD and 720 in the same time, and EPG only for one of them. Well, the question is when too much options can complicate the program for the user. That's what you mean ? Quote
